Joker soundtrack VS Harlequin

So I'm confused. Right now, there are Joker 2 sound track and Harlequin, two different albums. I wonder how much they are related and how they are different.

First, there is Joker 2 sound track that is available for pre-order on Amazon and the Interscope website (https://interscope.com/collections/joker-folie-a-deux/products/j-cd). Gaga was credited for the sound track so I imagine she sings some songs there along with Joaquin Phoenix who is also credited on the sound track. This one will be out on Oct. 4th but not sure if the digital version will be out ahead of time or not.

Then there is Harlequin that we are familiar with, out on Sep. 27th. This one is one Gaga's website, but not on Interscope's. It looks like Gaga and Michael funded this album. I wonder why they decided to do this.

Harlequin is a companion album, it isn't the soundtrack album. It's similar to The Lion King (2019) with Beyonce releasing The Lion King: The Gift. 

I'm fairly certain it's to distinguish the difference between Lee/Harley on the movie's soundtrack and Gaga on Harlequin. She said in interviews she sang differently as Lee/Harley in the movie and I heard a snippet where she intentionally isn't hitting notes.

It's artistic, creative and clever marketing for the movie.

Harlequin won’t be tied directly to Joker or its soundtrack, but rather is Gaga’s album that was inspired by Harley’s character in the film.

i think Harlequin will have Gaga's proper studio recordings of the covers

and then Joker 2 OST will have her & Joaquin's singing voice from the film.

My other guess: Harlequin might feature a different interpretation from Gaga. Those rock/acoustic teasers on her IG hyped me. Come through Queen/Quinn.

We're def getting a music video for the lead single. It's probably what she was filming at The Louvre. The album cover and alt cover is a serve.

definitely feels like there will be a music video. perhaps on Friday as well !

I was wondering about this. Firstly I thought soundtrack would be filled with compositions by H. Guðnadóttir similarly to the Joker (2019) soundtrack, while Harlequin would include all the singing parts of Gaga and Joaquin. Now it makes more sense knowing that soundtrack for Joker 2 will include all compositions and singing from the movie, while Harlequin is a studio album by Lady Gaga INSPIRED by the movie (these musics won’t be included in the actual movie I guess?)
