It's a cute reference to a "dark" part of her past that only Little Monsters know if you ask me. It saddens me bc I love having concerts in my drive so much, but I totally understand her bc she was suffering. On top of that her deposition in the Kesha Dr Luke case in september 2017 stirred up her trauma and that was probably when she had her psychotic break. She had to cancel Brazil, took time to heal, but went back on the road when she was not ready. She flew back and forth to do this Grammy performance, which at the time worried me because it seemed so stressful and she did appear very emotional during the performance. She flew back to the UK and filmed Birmingham. There was a woman who suffers from chronic pain at a Joanne show who talked to both Christian and Bobby. After hearing her story they tour was canceled. It felt like she had to fulfill obligations but suffered mentally and physically. Smashing the vhs probably symbolizes her never putting herself through something like that again and taking control. Her vocals were INSANE, she sounded so good on the Joanne tour. You could tell she'd been practicing a lot for ASIB so she was on point.
