Awrah999 4,011
OMG I’m still gathering my thoughts. There are like 2-3 jazzy cuts that are great vocally but just not standouts to me (Good Morning, That’s Entertainment) most of the album is some of her BEST songs ever and best vocals I’ve ever heard from her. Some initial thoughts on some of the standouts to me: - The Joker: I love the theatricality on and good lord those INSANE belts and operatic falsettos. PURE CINEMA on a track. It’s like she has multiple personalities and her utilizes different parts of her voice on different parts oft he track in a way no one else could. -Happy Mistake is so haunting and beautiful. Her falsetto into the chest voice later on in the track kind of reminds me of I’ll Never Love Again and it’s definitely one of the best ballads she’s ever written -Folie A Deux-possibly my favorite on the album. It’s a waltz, like wtf?!! Gaga’s vocals are dreamy and her high register/falsettos shine on this so much. It’s melodic and absolutely beautiful, fitting the movie/themes so well of Harlequin -World On A String: her voice suits this simple melody so well. It has a romantic, bluesy vibe that’s hard to describe but has a timeless quality to it and it’s different from anything Gaga’s done before; the production stands out among its peers on the album -Oh When The Saints: WOW, shocked she made such a well-known too so feel good and I really was not expecting to like this but it’s one of my faves; it gets you moving right away and it’s impossible not to dance to. Gaga’s voice on this reminds me of Look What I found. Her tone is perfect for this and she flexes her harmonies so well on this with perfect vocal control -Gonna Build A Mountain: Gaga taking us to church again on this one, also a danceable church bop; her high belts are so beautiful on this. I don’t think she’s sounded so free and happy than on a track like this honestly her whole career. Reminds me a bit of Come to Mama. I know I forgot a few but overall what an amazing album. Never been done before, LITERALLY, by her or anyone else. Her voice sounds possibly the best it ever has; the vocals are on par or possible even better than ASIB which is one of my favorite albums from her. It’s certainly not pop or EDM bangers, but I appreciate Gaga’s full throttle versatility on this and she really gives it her all on this. Even though there are some who discount that this is mostly covers, she really puts a specific spin on the tracks that make it hers. I give the album a 9.5/10. My favorite is probably Folie A Delux, followed by World On A String and Happy Mistake. Thank you Gaga for this 1 7

FameMonster01 6,980
Just listened to it. Let's focus on the positive sides first! 1. The Joker is the best song off the album and honestly one of Lady Gaga's best songs since 2014. I love how theatrical it is, I LOVE the rock undertones, and I absolutely need an album full of " the jokers" 2. Album highlights: The Joker, Happy Mistake, Folie a Deux and Gonna Build A Mountain. I really like these songs and they stand out from the rest. 3. I love how on some tracks, there's almost a haunting Christmas atmosphere. Kind of how you would imagine a Christmas in a mental asylum to be, LOVE IT, and will definitely play it in the Christmas time 4. Her vocals do shine on this album. The negative sides: 1. In my opinion, this is her WEAKEST jazz album. I LOVE cheek to cheek, i like love for sale, but this album is a miss. I appreciate the jazz sound, but in my honest opinion, there should have been waaay more rock undertones to this soundtrack. I was looking forward to some grunge rock influences, only to find none. 2. Overall the album is not really all that, 75% of it are fillers and kind of like background characters, while only 4 of the tracks manage to gather some momentum and manage to stand out 3. This one (like the first ones) is a bit more personal, but I honestly lacked at least 4 original songs, instead of some of the jazz covers.
