The album is perfect for streaming. Not all songs necessarily flow perfect together as they have very different moods, which is inherently a result of the eclecticism of the project. The songs are great and about half of them blend in perfectly with her jazz albums. Some are surprisingly musical theatre, it really shows her roots!

The Joker and Happy Mistake are my favourites. Folie a Deux is AMAZING and shows how she must do a Disney soundtrack. Its insane. It feels like the SOM tribute.

Yeah…no offense to some of y’all, but I’m not trusting you with this “the album is full jazz” thing :laughga: GGD is notorious for not understanding music genres 😭 Y’all are the same people who listen to one guitar strum and will scream “OMG THIS IS JOANNE 2.0”

I’m sure jazz is a huge inspiration for the album, but I don’t see this being like C2C and L4S. Even from the snippets I’ve heard from the listening party, this is not a *jazz* album. Gaga herself said there’s a lot of different genres in it. Even if it was a jazz album, I wouldn’t mind at all, but I have a feeling when we all listen to it we’ll realize y’all are overplaying it and having meltdowns over nothing :huntyga:

For those who listened to it, how’s That’s Life? Is it the version we heard in the last trailer??

I’m pretty disappointed that this isn’t the kind of album I would keep going back to. When I heard “Joker” yesterday I thought it might change my mind.
I’ll maybe listen to it once more, but can’t see it being on repeat.

That said, she’s sounds amazing she’s clearly very proud and happy with the project, so good for her.
Its great that she has the freedom to do these things

Well there's a lot of jazz tho :glamourpuss:

But I see it more as musical jazz rather than C2C or L4S 2.0

Several songs of the album have a mystical fade-out at the end, really like that.

It’s not her like jazz albums.

Its like she mixed the best of ASIB and Joanne and made something that makes both look like trash

It really has it’s own identity.

Shes so experimental on it - it’s like an acoustic Born This Way. It’s crazy. It’s so good ahhhshdhdh

Happy Mistake is a beautiful, haunting soft rock song about the inability of her fame to fix her mental problems, or as she frames 'broken pieces'. It feels reflective, given the album imagery with the JWT Tape for instance, of the pain she experienced with having to continue the show and her inability to feel her own void in the meantime.

Mr S was right when he said it was doo wop, soul and jazz. that's pretty much the vibe. it reminds me of zooming round the world of Need For Speed Carbon listening to Amy Winehouse's Frank :enigma:

Again, I’m not surprised there’s a lot of jazz. Given the vibes and aesthetics of Joker, jazz is a huge component of that. I just have a feeling people are overstating it and when we all listen to it, it’ll be fine. I seriously don’t trust GGD to differentiate between genres :laughga:

But again, I wouldn’t have a problem if it was all jazz. I love her jazz projects

It’s definitely mostly jazz style. But she’s getting ready to shock us with LG7. This is the palate cleanser.
