I'm so sorry can't believe you can't live your life without these things affecting you like that. I don't understand how her father's endorsement would turn you off from LG7 it's like two completely different worlds.

maybe I'll get over it but it was so disgusting to me how he can use her succes (that we elavate) and use her name to endorse someone who can back fire on our rights and lives directly (Im a gay immigrant)

that's true but it's so disgusting to see him being so inconsiderate of her fan base. and I still think he's living off a much better life now then he would be if it wasn't for her money

I totally understand how you feel. But tbh I think Gaga is just seeing this situation through a wider lens and she's mature enough to not start some baseless family drama. She has campaigned tirelessly for Clinton and Biden and I think that she feels that it's only fair if her dad can do the same for whomever he supports.

Hence, I really respect that she's taking taking a step back from the "political limelight" this season just to show her dad that even tho she has a huge platform, is very influential, and is literally "the celebrity" in the family, she doesn't need to go all out and endorse for Kamala because she can show restrain too.

Sometimes someone in the family has to take the first step in caring more about the collective rather than the individual & I'm really glad Gaga is that person. And trust me, it's way way harder to be this person, esp when people seem to care just for themselves nowadays.

exactly so it explains me feeling disgusted by him using HER NAME to go on a major network to do this, he wouldnt even be there if it wasnt for her success. I never said its her fault

he didn't use her name, Fox News did because they KNEW it was a smart idea to throw an uber-liberal celeb's name out as related to a trumpie

mother, what must i do?

you and someone else brought up morals here when that wasn't where I was coming from. I know we indirectly end up giving money to terrible people, what I was saying is seeing him using her name that we show our support to, to back fire on us

But you did say it's bad to support her music because of her dad who she has no control over. Stop trying to change the narrative now that you are getting dragged sweetie

He supports Trump, why the hell do you assume he cares about her fanbase? He was never even supportive of his daughters career

I'm sorry but this is just not true. He was fangirling all over the place, cheering her on from the start. He was such a proud papa. He loved meeting her fans, host events for them at the restaurant. He is part of Mermaid Inc. I believe or another one of her publishing companies, I'm not that into the business side of music, but I know he used to be part of her team/company and probably still is. He was at all her big performances, often sat beside her. Sure he loves his share of attention and sure Gaga has tried to please her father in the past, but that doesn't mean he's not involved in her career.

It's sad that he's craving the spotlight like this and using his daughter's fame. But that's still a private family issue that we are not involved in.

Im sure its tough for her but I dont think he has the "right" to do the same, using her name. Of course he can endorse anyone who he wants to but going on a network where he would not be invited to if it wasnt for her, as "LADY Gaga'S FATHER" under the headline is not fair at all.

also, wasn't her quote: "If you have revolutionary potential, then you have a moral imperative to make the world a better place."  then I think she should be participating more in this campaign.

He was not supportive of her career before she made it big. He changed his tune after his daughter became a star because he wanted to reap the rewards

yes and he willingly gave them that and much more. I took any responsibility off her but now you're taking it off him too

so what does that have to do with Gaga and her projects? why are you connecting 2 separate things when there's nothing to connect?

and why is Gaga the one you can no longer support when, as others have pointed out, you're actively engaging and supporting far more damaging companies/celebrities almost every day?

I can understand your feelings in this regard, and I understand how you've come to this conclusion of contributing to Gaga means contributing to Joe, but I can't say I've come to the same conclusion. I'll go further to say that I think you've been told many times that the disconnect is that Gaga is not responsible for her father's opinions, endorsements, and any political sway he holds.

But feelings don't care about the facts. You feel that supporting Gaga is, indirectly or otherwise, supporting Joe. And to an extent, that's not incorrect. He's her father. She clearly has love for him. There's the familial bond they share even if they disagree politically. I can't say for sure to what level Gaga would still provide support to him if he asked, but I can't imagine she would provide zero support.

That being said, it is clear that her politics are still in contrast to his. That she would never endorse Trump. It's disgusting that conservative media are using her name to discredit liberal support for Kamala, and it's equally disgusting that Joe would allow and condone it. But that's between Gaga and him.

I am among the members of this fandom that are kind of side-eyeing Gaga with her distance from her social and political activism. I don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but I am very critical of how she's been handling her image, her team, her messaging, etc. But I do not believe that her core beliefs have shifted away from where they once stood. I believe she is still profoundly liberal, verging on leftist.

My personal advice would be that if you are feeling anxious, hostile, or otherwise dysphoric about giving money to her in any capacity, then don't. Pirate her music. Support third-party unofficial merch creators. Her art is not reflective of her father's beliefs, only hers. To be honest, even songs she says are written with him in mind, they don't actually have much to do with him, they're her songs and its only her image of him she's writing about, not him as an actual person.

you're going off as if I said it was wrong now to support her like someone else in this thread is saying but I never did that, I said I was PERSONALLY turned off by it and lost the hype and was curious if someone else felt the same. I never said we should be canceling her now

That's very true. Also FOX is a huge player in this. They want to get this segment to as many people as possible. I'm sure if he asks them not to use his daughter's name, they wouldn't listen. At the same time, I'm sure he 100% knows what he's getting himself into.

Yup, she does mentions that quote, but if it's between That Quote VS Family. Obviously she's gonna choose family. Knowing that she's quite a traditional Italian American, it's definitely family first before everything. I'm Asian and I totally get that. I'll side with my family to the grave no matter what, even if they betray me, because family means a lot to me even if some members of the family do not see it that way.

What are you basing this on? This not true. Both him and Cynthia used to accompany Gaga to gigs when she was a minor. He used to help her carry her piano. He got involved in her business early on, before she got it big, to make sure his daughter was protected. He helped het quit cocaine. I can go on.
