Getting any Oscar nomination is a blessing and the cherry on top of what will undoubtedly be a great performance. It’s exciting if she gets nommed, incredible if she wins (regardless of the category) and if it’s neither it doesn’t diminish her talent at all.

Can’t wait to watch and I’m excited for the promo appearances and hopefully some campaign appearances too!

I have a friend that was able to watch in Venice and all I’ll say is maybe if this does well Gaga might have an opportunity to get a lead role. :firega:

She's already been lead twice :ally:

It is a weird one, because when the first trailer was released it was obvious her role was much more than ‘supporting’. I can only imagine that Joaquin’s meddling changed the direction of the film in post production which is a shame.

I'm not sure about that. I mean, Gaga started filming over a month after Joaquin so she must have known from the beginning that she would have less screen time than him.

I'm obviously excited about seeing her in the movie, but I'm a huge fan of the first one so I was always going to be anticipating the followup, regardless of the amount of screen time Gaga has.

Who cares? None of y’all are getting any of the price money anyway, sorry to break it to you. Gaga probably wouldn’t have thanked any of you specifically in her acceptance speech for leading role either. I’m sorry.

We are still seeing her in a huge production in her most interesting role yet, in 2 weeks.. some of you need to touch some grass and be happy for once

:bye: xx

Prize money? I don’t think that is a thing outside of the perks of winning.

Gaga is the type that dedicates her all towards a role, I’m sure she knew from the get go what she was getting herself into. Also doubt anyone would dare to waste her time like that. Also even if we assume her involvement is a few scenes here and there, it would be more iconic. There’s never too small of a role. Many supporting actors have outshined the leads in countless movies and went on to get bigger projects pitched to them. I repeat, Gaga’s still new to Hollywood y’all give her some time. Her breakthrough role is probably some time away, she needs to build from experience. Enjoy Joker and LG7, we haven’t had anything in 5 years almost. This is a great time to be a Gaga fan.

Heath Ledger had a supporting role in The Dark Knight, got all the praise, won the Oscar, has the acclaim and the role is super iconic and it doesn't matter that it wasn't the lead. When I saw The Dark Knight in theatres I loved that he wasn't in every scene because any time he was shown it was captivating and fully appreciated.

You don't submit to the Oscars. They can nominate you wherever. You can only announce your intention by campaign.

I doubt Wicked is an awards player besides crafts. But Selena could be a sleeper. Her movie has great reviews.

Economy

Now we have the answer to why Gaga was payed less (besides the fact Joaquin was also more critical because he was already in the 1st movie). She has less screen time.

Everyone is like "its cuz shes a woman" :enigma:

I just hope this is very accurate and isn't considered category fraud. Judging from the reviews, she is under-used so it would suggest more of a supporting role. I just can't get away with all the "Phoenix x Gaga" stuff and just showing them on the posters and in the trailers to suggest that they are leads and everyone else is merely supporting cast. But saying that...

This could actually be a great thing. The supporting actress category seems to have no competition this year. I don't think Ariana has a snowball's chance of getting nominated, Wicked really doesn't seem Oscar worthy and it's a two parter which will really take its chances down. It seems Selena's movie got a lot of good reviews but at the end of the day, it's still Selena Gomez, I don't know if the academy will take her seriously as an actress. And there's also no way the academy will nominate 3 singers in the same category, that's pure pop fans dreams but not reality. Yes, it would be absolutely awesome for Gaga to win Best Actress but as long as she wins an award for her acting in some form, I don't mind (it's the same when she won a Golden Globe for her acting in a tv show but not a movie). She already has an Oscar for her songwriting anyway. An Oscar is an Oscar is an Oscar, it doesn't matter what you win it for. I've never seen anyone look down on an actress for "only" winning the best supporting category. And plenty of actors have won this award and their acting was in the most talked-about thing in that movie to this day. Most notably - Angelina Jolie in Girl Interrupted, Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, Lupita Nyong'o in 12 Years A Slave, Viola Davis in Fences, Sam Rockwell in 3 Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri. If Gaga really nails it, she'll be the best part of this film, make no mistake.

Jesus, you people take the joy out of everything.

Quite honestly idgaf what category she’s in. The movie utilizes her as a marketing tool and that’s ok.
