They didn’t award her for ratings, they literally just took the money and called it a day. Like, okay, the VMAs want money, but what do they win here? Didn’t they think about how ridiculous giving Katy that award would be? Didn’t they think about the long term consequences? N-O-B-O-D-Y will ever take this ceremony seriously anymore, nobody will be excited for it or for their idol to win a VMA Giving her the Vanguard award was fine, she does have one of the most iconic videographies in history (thanks to her first eras) but this is beyond pathetic. Paparazzi (personally my favorite but I don’t think it’s more “iconic” than Like a Virgin/Hollywood) 3. Like a Virgin 4. Love on Top 5. The Real Slim Shady/The Way I Am 6. You Belong with Me 7.
