Gaga’s 5 wins were already very fake in 2020 (ROM for SOTY when Blinding Lights exists) but damnnnnn this is a million times worse. They didn’t award her for ratings, they literally just took the money and called it a day.

Like, okay, the VMAs want money, but what do they win here? Didn’t they think about how ridiculous giving Katy that award would be? Didn’t they think about the long term consequences? N-O-B-O-D-Y will ever take this ceremony seriously anymore, nobody will be excited for it or for their idol to win a VMA

Giving her the Vanguard award was fine, she does have one of the most iconic videographies in history (thanks to her first eras) but this is beyond pathetic. I’m quite sure even most Katy’s fans don’t remember about this performance.

Taylor isn’t an iconic performer on the VMA’s either though.  Her most memorable performance was when she was humiliated by Kanye on stage.  Maybe they just gave it Katy since it was her night already.

2. Paparazzi (personally my favorite but I don’t think it’s more “iconic” than Like a Virgin/Hollywood)

3. Like a Virgin

4. Love on Top

5. The Real Slim Shady/The Way I Am

6. You Belong with Me

7. Roar

I truly do not understand how it is possible that Roar won. It’s the only one that I didn’t even remember.
