There's very few games on PS5 what's the point of a pro? It's not consumer friendly, it's wildly overpriced and a physical disc reader is extra? Even Sony fanboys can't tell the difference between PS5 and pro.

That's reach, anyone can tell the difference with PSSR fidelity and fps. And Pro gives more freedom to devs + better graphics obviously. Normal PS5 is already 4 years old and needs upgrading at this point. PS5 can play PS4 games and there's a whole ass library to play with PS Premium. Not sure why complaining about this if you already have PS5. PS6 ain't coming till 2028 or so... 

The only problem is the price tag being ridiculously high atm.

There are 723 titles native to PS5. It's also compatible with all but 6 titles from PS4's 3,380 games. As @JustTea mentioned, PSSR fidelity and fps are the big differences. PS5 could run 4k natively, and it could do 60fps. But it could not do both at the same time in many cases, and that's what PS5Pro is looking to fix. How smart would it have been for Sony to showcase their original PS5, that they still intend to sell as the de-facto mass consumer option, lagging? The fanboys you are mentioning are VERY aware of the technical limitations the PS5 presents. And they're aware that the equivalent GPU, CPU, and SSD themselves are $620 retail. Everybody is "complaining", but at the end of the day PS4 Pro only made up 12% of total PS4 sales last cycle. And oh look, IGN is reporting from their survey that 10-15% of people plan on upgrading. In line with PS4 Pro.

This is also only partially true. Lots of games already include a toggle for fidelity mode and for performance mode. Now it's essentially doing both simultaneously. Most multi-platform games are already optimized in this manner because they're developed this way for PC gaming. And first party developers were more than likely already told to include fidelity/performance toggles in their games. I don't really see what's changing at this point. Nothing being done here is super proprietary.

I’m a PS enthusiast and follow some forums online and threads on Reddit. I can tell you that I haven’t seen a single positive comment about this pro anywhere in my readings.

Ignoring the price, the other concern most have is it’s not truly a “pro” model, as you have to purchase basic features for an extra price (on top of the already outrageous price)

Even the 1% doesn’t want this.

an expensive product for enthusiasts is fine. The original is still there and still on sale for the same price. I don't think there's a reason to dunk on this like it's offensive to ask that much money. It's for people who want it and can afford it. It's a niche product. If it doesn't sell well, it literally doesn't matter to the playstation ecosystem.

i think it's more about what this means for the future of gaming; higher prices for less features. a pro version should absolutely come with a disc drive at that price...

Most people prefer to have physical copies of their games. Some countries (like mine) don't show up when creating a profile, which usually isn't an issue because I can select the nearest option. HOWEVER, this prevents me from entering a valid payment method, as it must be registered in the same country I originally signed up with. This made online payment virtually impossible and a huge pain in the ass. Selling Playstations (OFFICIAL stores mind you) in a country and not allowing its users to register as players from that country is INSANE. 

This plus the fact that you need to pay to play online are features that I want fixed or made cheaper in the future. Gone (mostly) are the days of PS exclusives anyway, so they need to come up with something new to attract buyers and this Pro option isn't it.....

Actually, they already have to optimize it for PS5, both fidelity and performance modes, while PS5 Pro can do both at the same time and get even more fps up to 120. It's not that kinda burden what you think it is, Pro can just handle the fidelity mode with way better fps. PSSR will allow Pro to be closer to the original vision/idea of the devs with less optimizations needed...

How will they be competing more on this coming gen? Nintendo games are miles away from PS5 in terms of what the experience is.

NS2 will be closer to ps4 pro with dlss tech from nvidia 

they will now have CoD and main gen games since most of games are currently cross gen with just a boost mode on new gen
