Future Lovers 6,446
It isn’t going well. Pre-sales aren’t everything but it’s first day sales have been pretty abysmal. Lagging behind both The Marvels’ and The Flash’s first days. Empire City wants to wait a few days to see if they’re changing the OW prediction but if things hold like they did today, a $100 million DOM OW is off the table.
Obobo 2,673
the critics really do have power... how can we get the locals excited for this film
Future Lovers 6,446
Just now, Obobo said: the critics really do have power... how can we get the locals excited for this film I don’t think it’s the critics alone on this one. It’s also WB. The reviews have not helped at all, but the metrics and data from the promotional campaign have indicated a lot of audience confusion and apathy which is reflective of an unclear and messy marketing campaign. Them refusing to call it a musical outright is proving to be a mistake in terms of audience awareness and engagement. As I said above, pre-sales aren’t the whole story and audiences could still come out in full force upon release. But, from my many years of tracking box office, I think the chances of it hitting a billion are nosediving by the day. I’m not confident enough to make an actual final total estimate, I’ll need to see more pre-sale data and then eventually OW totals, but it looks like it will sharply decline from the first. Which, to be fair, I always expected. The first one hitting $1 billion was kind of a freak occurrence of factors all lining up at once that wasn’t gonna happen again. lg5 1,465
DALLAS PEEPS- If you’re planning to see the fan first event, try to go to it at the NorthPark AMC (Almost sold out). Their IMAX theater is so well made and the screen is ginormous. I’d advise choosing it over the Mesquite AMC showing due to how much better the screen is. I saw the ASIB early showing there and it was breathtaking. Also noting that if you want to see it again after it officially opens, starting Oct 3, the Cinemark Dallas XD is one of the 11 theaters showing it in true 70MM IMAX (this theater has all the proper equipment) and it will be a special moment. Fun fact: only 16 films have been released in true IMAX since 2009, and JFAD is one of them! As for 4DX, the B&B theater in Red Oak should be showing JFAD in 4DX, which will include moving chairs, fog, wind, etc. That’s going to be an experience as well! Tickets have yet to be announced for the Red Oak location, but should come out soon. This theater fills up quick, there’s not a lot of seats in it! PunkTheFunk 123,482
Got my ticket for Oct 4th! Don't care if it ends up with a 20% Rotten Tomatoes score and a $5 opening weekend. I just can't wait to see Gaga on a big IMAX screen! 1 2
