Bronco 5,738
I'm just going to put it out there unless TS & Brit Mahomes have been seen regularly hanging out outside of KCC matches I feel like its a stretch to describe their relationship as a friendship. I don't know if they do so if people have further info please share. I don't keep friends who vote in ways that directly harm me, so I wouldn't remain social with a MAGA cultist. But I also am not dating a star football player and getting a spot in the WAGs private box at NFL games lol so I don't have to hang out with the crazy wife of the team's Star QB which makes life easier. (That said Taylor is also a rich white straight lady, so lets be real - Trump & Co's policies won't hurt her. She has the wealth neccessary to avoid any negatives)

Cavadour 2,008
Any Trump supporter looks suspicious to me and I tend to give any MAGA an ultra wide berth. I cannot befriend with someone who supports this guy. Sorry. Late to the party but I got a diamond heart

I agree with you when you say you dont keep friends that support harming you or taking away your rights. So if someone says they dont believe in LGBTQ+ rights, I wouldnt be friends with them. But if they are truly pro LGBTQ+ rights (or atleast against LGBTQ+ rights being taken away), im fine being friends with them if they voted for Trump. They are mostly good basic A political people who are uneducated politically, and they lean conservative because thats the environment they are raised in. They dont think Trump is anti LGBTQ+ rights, and they see Democrats as a party that goes too far by allowing children to transition, and support schools hiding information from trans parents. Im not debating or arguing with you, im just trying to have a conversation about it because I struggle with this, considering I live in a country where everyone is extremely anti Gay. bpmMonkey 4,000
11 hours ago, faysalaaa said: So now humans are supposed to cut off anyone thats a republican? lol I mean, comes down to the phrasing. There is a world where the GOP is just another party with believes and political views, which is important to have and is worth supporting. Supporting Trump as a person is another thing. Equating Republicans with Trump is the problem in general these last years, sadly.
Addison Rae 15,123
being republican is one thing and i have friends of all political beliefs, but openly supporting trump of all people is enough to make anyone side eye you tbh… sitting on his lap sipping diet pepsi

Honestly at this point in time, I think it's extremly charitable to say that Trump supporters aren't aware of the threat he poses to their LGBTQ+ friends if they have any. There's a difference between a 2016 Trump voter and someone still supporting him in this cycle in my personal view. As for the safeguarding issue of selective information sharing. As someone who works with young people and vulnerable people and deals with safeguarding as an everyday principle of my work, I just can't understand or empathise with people who don't understand or agree with the basic principle of you don't share information with someone if you have reason to believe it would put the person at risk. It's not really an issue of left vs right or Democrat vs Republican, it's a simple issue of how to best keep a vulnerable person safe from potential harm. And the best way to keep a child questioning their gender id/sexuality safe is to not communicate that information to parents if you have grounds to suspect they would be abusive to that child as a result. It's like how in the pre-child safeguarding world, it was common policy if a child alleged sexual assault by a family member (even if it was the father/mother) to immediately discuss it with the family first - despite knowing that you were likely putting that child at risk of further harm and also at risk of being taken out of mainstream schooling etc preventing them getting help. Nowadays if a disclosure like that got made, you are legally obligated by your position to contact the police/social services immediately - not share the information with a parent. Im not saying Trump supporters arent aware of Trumps LGBTQ+ threat. Im saying if I met an individual thats a Trump supporter, and they happen to be pro LGBTQ+ rights, and they dont believe Trump is anti LGBTQ+, I dont mind being friends with them. I agree with you on keeping information from harmful parents, but im just trying to explain to you what a basic republican leaning person thats not educated on politics can see this as an issue because it sounds bad (even if its not). Some dont view Trump as anti LGBTQ+ rights, and they view Democrats as going way too far, so they dont mind supporting Trump.
