Gaga is Life 101
#09 is alright, considering everyone else there. And I like how they said she's gonna be the 21st century Elvis But Adele being where she is...
DIVA 666
Putting Adele in front of Gaga is an insult to music. She has had ONE hit album and three hit songs at best. Yeah, maybe she was popular this year, but her album was nothing innovative, her vocal talent is ok, and her lyrics all revolve around the same thing. I actually like Adele, but lets be honest, and be fair. She hasn't earned her rank as an Icon yet. Not even close. Let her change music, and push boundaries. Let her have a career, not just a hit album. Let her prove that she will be relevant in a decade, and leave a real mark on the music industry. People have sung her praises to much. Sure, 21 was a good soulful album with some beautiful melodies, but it's one album. The music industry needs better standards. I know I sound like a bitter b---h, but this list is just ridiculous. So many artists on here, shouldn't be where they are. Ok, sorry about the rant. Hopefully I didn't offend anyone. I love almost everyone on the damn list, but I think it needs a little reorganizing. I mean....Whitney that low.... No female vocalist hasn't aspired to sing like her at some time. Lets be real now. :ohwell: We're all Stronger Together! DIVA 666
Top three should be Madonna, Whitney, and Mariah...followed by Cher, Brittany, Beyonce, and Gaga...not necessarily that order but oh well. I might throw ABBA in there as well. If we're counting Aretha, then she needs to be in the top as well. Tina Turner maybe also. Lol I could go on and on...There are so many greats, and its hard to put them in order. We're all Stronger Together!

Aries 2
Adele though... She's really talented, but she hasn't done anything for the pop culture. :tea:

Mister G 10,123
Best line in that article was them referencing Gaga as a 21st Century Ms. Elvis.
Wee Monster 0
Sorry to keep going on about this but Adele and Gaga released their first albums in the same year. Adele has sold an estimated 32 million worldwide across two albums while Gaga has sold an estimated 23 million across three. Adele has eight Grammys while Gaga has five. In the US, 21 has sold more copies than Michael Jackson's Thriller while in the UK, it has sold more than Oasis' (What's the Story) Morning Glory. It is also the first album since Thriller to sell more than any other album in the world over two consecutive years. Add to this the fact that she will be performing at this years Academy Awards and is also very likely to walk away with her first Oscar and the questioning of her merit becomes increasingly bizarre. Of course we can't rely on sales and accolades as the only factor but if Gaga's statistics read like this and people were disputing her position on this list there would be an uproar on this very forum - rightfully so at that. bumblebee 2,528
It is still early days for Stephanie Germanotta, but with the myth-making , self-marketing nous of Madonna, the musical chops of Elton John and the counter-culture boldness of David Bowie, Lady Gaga is on the way to becoming an ultimate pop icon, a 21st century Ms Elvis. Glad to see someone is finally smart enough to notice that musically Gaga can't be compared to Madonna often! Gaga is just the first prominent female figure since 80s who is using dem tools to get her name known not only because of her musical/singing talent and commercial success, but also thanks to contributions to the pop culture, messages, extravagant fashion sense and artistic bravery! So speaking simple words, in the marketing they do seem to have some strong similarities. Musically Gaga is much more influenced by Elton John, Bowie and Springsteen. But from all those legends alive, the press only constantly milks Madonna comparisons.
