Radio is weird now... ppl listen to it too spuradically so ppl take a long time to get tired of radio songs and take too long to gain familiarity if its not a song they stream

The result is extremely slow turn over as its hard for a song to get into heavy play but once its in there it will take a long time for audience to tire of it

This means fewer songs will be radio hits going forward as fewer are allowed into heavy play with such slow turn over

basically radio doesn't reflect the latest new thing. it reflects what is already recognized as good songs that have been around for a while.

But isn’t this the numbers the new wierdly named album of Katy Perry has per day? I mean it’s absolutely amazing a side non pop mainstream album is doing to accompany a divisive movie. I’ll take it.

143 does 2.5M per day atm.

With collabs , singles with videos, that AFL performance, VMAs, etc and a full pop mainstream sound.

143 floated around 3-4M for the rest of the week and then drops to 2-3M which is currently.

I hope we can move past always comparing Gaga's performance to Katy. It's tiring. And in fact, it seems you all are falling for the trap they're setting up because those albums could not be any more different from each other.

Honestly I don't get it. Gaga and Katy are in complete different places professionally, personally and sonically. Comparing them makes zero sense.

I really dont get how the different genres suddenly are a reason people are not allowed to be disappointed by the fact the numbers are just bad. 143 is just bad music, so why does it have more streams? Okay, 143 had the performances, but Gaga currently had almost 100M listeners on spotify, and today only 3% of that resulted in streams of Harlequin? Make it make sense
