Excruciating. The rash itches and almost burns(?) it’s a weird pain. But the rash is also internal so going to the bathroom feels like razors. (Both 1&2). I was terrified to have to go because it hurt so fücking bad. 
The only relief was sitting in a bath with oats and other soothing additives but the second I was out of the water the pain was back. It’s hard to remember how long it lasted because it is all a blur but I was messed up at least a week. 
 

and I will add that I was lucky my outbreak was on the small side. I am thankful I didn’t have any pox on my face because they also scar.

The last outbreak that caused an emergency began spreading through gay men, I think at a fetish weekend in the Canary Islands or Belgium.

Unless this strain manages to spread around the world the same way through sex again, I won’t be alarmed. This is mostly spreading in Congo, and while that’s devastating for the people in Congo and surrounding countries, there is a reason why many diseases don’t manage to spread to other countries from there.

Sex between gay men was transmissible enough to allow it to spread so widely two years ago, but the general public never really caught it. It doesn’t spread easily thankfully, but first, vaccines should be given to Congo, and more vaccines/boosters should be ready for the gays. There’s no need to go through this again.
