Me when I’m delusional Lolol Taylor is not going anywhere ? She has a cult hun

you do realize shes almost 40, her popularity will not be at its peak forever

mariah was very relevant for 20 years with 18 number ones on the hot 100 during that period but eventually they slow down ..... they arent super popular for their entire lives

Beyonce was never on the level Taylor is now

This is laughable.

Beyoncé is objectively the right choice to top this list. Some kids just can't handle that a strong black woman did it better, does it better and will always do it better than anyone has since the height of legends like Madonna, Prince, or Michael Jackson.

I love bey but i don't think anybody will ever be on Michael Jackson level.

That man had a level of fame that we'll probably never see again, and he had the talent to back it up.

The melody that you choose can rescue you

Of course. However, Beyoncé is a close as we will get nowadays. There's a reason everyone here is assuming the #1 spot is going to Bey after all ;)

and yet nobody has forgotten about mariah lol

beyonce is 43 and still has cultural power

even if she has less songs charting for as long, doesnt mean taylors going anywhere

The list is greatest artist of the century, not the biggest artist right now.

Gaga and Britney had higher peak than Beyoncé too.

Taylor was 10 when Beyonce had her first #1 hot 100, now 25 years later she is in her peak of her career and who is she compared to? Beyoncé

Taylor's 2008 album spent 11 weeks at number one on Billboard 200 while all Beyonce's albums combined spent 12 weeks in total. Taylor has 7 albums that have charted more than 200 weeks on the Billboard chart, Beyonce has 0.

If this was the "how many weeks has their album lasted on the hot 200" list, then it seems like she would have won. But considering its not, and there are other factors at play here, including the quality of the music and the amount of cultural impact the works makes, she's not going to sit in the same position. And this is where, no matter how many more records Taylor sells, she's still not competing with Beyonce yet.

She frankly just doesn't have a Rennaissance, Cowboy Carter, Lemonade or Self-Titled level album in her catalogue, quality wise. Massive singles and album sales, sure. But the level of impact those albums had? Haven't seen her really approach it yet, feel like 1989 was the closest she came to that.

Deserved. Taylor is huge (would say bigger than Bey) but in therms of cultural influence Beyoncé runs the show

Honestly I think if you remember beyonce is still in the big game with people sometimes 2-3 generations of pop below her. I think that has a HEAVY factor in her crown in this regard.

Tbh either ways there would have been massive meltdowns

But Bey deserves. She has been on top from 2000 to 2024

If you count destiny’s child even longer. I get why we don’t here but just saying like…she’s been a mainstay for nearly 30 years in one regard or another with really only a mild flop that she’s since worked into her discography as vital as anything else. If that doesn’t put you #1 idk what would tbh

Maybe folklore a bit as well? But agreed.

This is the best argument tbh. Beyoncé, in some capacity or another, has been a mainstay of relevant pop culture for nearly 30 years. That’s just basically unheard of aside from Madonna. When she said she modeled her career after her you can tell.

im not saying anything bad about Taylor (she’s #2 after all) but I think it’s worth noting that as tastes have changed over 30 years, Beyoncé has not only been a constant presence but an ever evolving one who both is in step with and precedes main culture trends. I think tbh had Beyoncé not had the genuinely incredible last 10 years (wow) from self titled to now it would be a different story. The 1-2 of that and lemonade alone made her the legend and this project piece has been more of a victory lap tbh (Renaissance especially).

and to be clear I’m not saying Taylor swift needs to do anything. I’m saying beyonce is #1 bc she put in the decades to get to a place where she was primed to become a legend AND commercial success
