What if Adele's Team "unintentionally" put a Swastika or lets say a similar pattern of it,

and to quote you: " Was that particular segment about the show touching on themes of war, genocide and racialized violence? Was there any single piece of evidence that suggests this was meant to be a reference to the symbol of German's actions during WWII?

Would you feel the same way?

I get the point you’re trying to make here, but your whataboutism doesn’t really work here.

We’re not talking about the swatstika, which is a universally recognized nazi symbol in the west.

we’re talking about an optical pattern, like the other textures and patterns that accompanied it in Adele’s background visuals.

it just happens that this optical pattern is visually similar to a specific Japanese flag, and is associated with war crimes.

you can’t tell me they’re both equally recognizable as hate symbols to the west, because they aren’t. I’m not suggesting Koreans should react differently to the rising sun flag, but I am suggesting that people use their brains instead of reacting on autopilot. This was clearly a mistake and unintentional reference.

Again, can you elaborate? What exactly is tone deaf about it?

I said that I felt 250 Koreans were overreacting to a generic graphic pattern because it resembles the rising sun flag, despite there being zero indication that was Adele and her team's intention.

Was the show taking place in Korea? Was that particular segment about the show touching on themes of war, genocide and racialized violence? Was there any single piece of evidence that suggests this was meant to be a reference to the symbol of Japan's actions during WWII?

Just because the flag itself is a sensitive subject, doesn't mean I need to tiptoe around people's emotions because they're choosing to see it when it's not there.

omg i can use the n*zi logo for kpop concerts in seoul with the same logic

You all need to learn that a tweet is not a backlash! lol moving on

Did you not the read the whole post or …? Clearly Adele herself didn’t intend for that connotation but saying “lol mOvIng On” on a forum for free speech is quite ignorant when certain people could feel uneasy with that imagery. Try being a little more sensitive.
