I recently came across a podcast that Bonnie McKee was featured on from years ago and she explained how she started working with Katy and Luke. Basically Katy felt threatened by her and didn't want her involved or working with Luke at all. 
 

Luke reached out to Bonnie without telling Katy and invited her for a TD era recording session. She said Katy didn't want her there at all.

Katy treated Bonnie like crap and only started being nice to her once Bonnie came up with the whole idea for Teenage Dream.

So Katy basically used Bonnie for her ideas and songwriting and then disposed of her once she got her success. 

Makes complete sense why Katy hasn't tapped Bonnie since Prism despite Bonnie being almost as critical to TD and Prism's success as Luke.

Somehow I struggle with both Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj right now. I just feel… bad for them. I don’t get the sense that either are bad people, but both are also clearly not doing/behaving great. I just genuinely hope things do turn around and they can both get it back together soon. Cause they can still serve and be the moment again. 

I agree to disagree. Katy and Nicki are huge sympathy holders and they are still loved and I think for what they did with their art it is completely ok to have those sympathies with them. However, in 2024 it is ignorant to defend your fav when she's collaborating with a famously known producer - rapist - asshole and trying to embrace that collab as some sort of postmodern 2024 new wave feminism twist, when there are still people out there who he abused that didn't get their reparation and proper healing and he NEVER had to face any proper consequences until Katy or whoever called him to work with her. Had he been in jail or sth I would argue that the amount of hating on Katy for collabing with him could be too much but that never was the case. She CHOSE to work with him even though he never faced any circumstances. How is it possible nobody is seriously questioning what it means that someone of Katy's calibre is working with that producer? That collaboration with him is paving the way for so many men in this industry that are like him that now understand, even after all that happened, there he is, still working with Katy Perry producing lead singles. All the people involved knew what it meant and what message it conveys. Yet, so many on here just pray that this Katy "hate train" is finally over so that she can have her true comeback. Is it so hard for your teenage memories to acknowledge that she might be or had become a total no-go? Same with Nicki.

I definitely agree with that. As sad as it is for me to somewhat see Katy going through this, it's undeniable that it's her choice of Dr. Luke + that video and the mess that came after it was really deserved. I hope Kesha is ok through all of this.

Speaking of her and Dr Luke, I've started to question how much a sizable portion GP cares about the Dr Luke thing unfortunately.. I have talked to people spanning a few discords, and a ton of people I've met unfortunately either do not believe her or take her genuine problems with him with a grain of salt. Like one of them flat out said he takes Kesha's word with a huge skeptic lens. The only other person that i talk to daily that stands with Kesha other than me is another friend who's also a person that keeps up with popular culture. Any problems they had with Katy stemmed from the music she made and her overall image. So it's like yeah, they're opposed to woman's world but they don't stand with Kesha which is a tragedy to me.
