Because even though Trump is pro Israel, he is against foreign wars in general. So whos actually the better of two evils? I dont think we can measure or predict whos better as they are both evil working for the same system. I also dont want to play this dirty political game, I wouldnt feel good voting for the better of two evils, it just feels disgusting to me. This doesnt mean I think its wrong or immoral for others to vote though. I just brought in Gaza as a practical example, but what we're discussing is a principle, your stated position that your morals don't allow you to vote for the better of two evils. So let's move away from Gaza and consider a hypothetical. Let's say you have a vote in a Presidential election. There are only two possible winners, A and B. The only difference between the two candidates in in relation to their policy on Africa. A will adopt a policy which will result in the slaughter of 1m people in Africa. B will adopt a policy which will result in the slaughter of 6m people in Africa. You either abstain or vote for a third party, and B wins the election by one vote. If you had voted for A it would have been a tie and would have been referred to Congress who would have chosen A because his party has a majority. So your decision not to vote for the lesser evil has resulted in the deaths of 5m people who would otherwise have survived. In the light of the above hypothetical, how can you defend morals which do not allow you to vote for the lesser of two evils ?

If there is an actual difference that makes sense to me, I would vote for the lesser of two evils. For example, I dont agree with Bernie Sanders politics, but I do think the good Bernie has to offer is huge compared to Biden or Trump, so I would vote Bernie. But I dont think there is much of a difference between Trump and Biden (On issues that I care about).

Trump at the Debate, if anyone was listening, literally said he would support 'wiping out Gaza'. He will be unequivocally worse on this issue. He does not care about peace or a two state solution, and does not give a damn about anyone except himself. The gaslighting and agitprop is getting to be too much to bear girls. Yeah nobody said he wouldnt be worse so..
getbehindmybarrier 1,193
Trump's worse on: Reproductive Freedom LGBTQ+ Rights Economic Policy Democracy Itself (Insurrection) Foreign Policy; including maintaining Western Alliances and Supporting NATO. Trump worships and sides with Dictatorships, including Saudi Arabia, Russia, North Korea and on and on. I feel even a discussion couched in a 'Better of Two Evils' argument is silly. The two choices Americans have before us are not even remotely similar. People who want to convince American voters that they are the same or both are evil are trying to discourage us into Despair to not vote, and allow Trump to win. It's so transparent. high culture 2,362
When you watch the Republican Party, it seems obvious that the ~40 year old Republicans such as Donald Trump Jr / JD Vance are far more diabolical than the old ones like former President Trump, McConnell, etc 🤷🏻♂️ the former president had spoken against Project 2025 several times but it's obvious his sons try to have a lot of influence

Or let me say the difference isnt that big for it to make a difference to me. I understand Americans care about social local issues (which is very important), but I care more about issues like world wars and killing innocent people. I would vote (hypothetically considering im not American) for Bernie Sanders because I believe he would be good for America and the world, even though I dont agree with him politically. Exactly you’re not an American, and that’s totally fine and not a dig toward you, but with all due respect, you are wildly misinformed on many of these issues and are willingly remaining ignorant or discussing nuanced topics that you are clearly ill-informed on. I won’t bother quoting the several examples, but I think a lot of users are politely asking you to stop, and instead you dig in and project.

He created the new GOP in which Vance and his sons thrive. As for McConnell's era. They were willing to let Trump have everything he wanted so long as they got what they wanted. There is no difference between them. They allowed him to happen, they promoted him to leech off of him. The gays know how to party

Then everyone here should not be allowed to talk about the Israeli Palestinian conflict, because almost everyone here is misinformed, and they are not from the Middle East. But you dont see me telling people to stop do you? I either choose to engage or withdrawal if I dont like what I see. You cant just ask me to stop, its the political side of this forum, im allowed to give my opinion. You cant filter public spaces to be safe spaces so that everyone agrees with you. Ok, so then it isn't true to say that your morals don't allow you to vote for the better of two evils. Just on Trump v Harris, if you had a vote in the US election your right to vote would obviously be an issue that you would care about. If either candidate wanted to take away your right to vote, that would matter very much. Trump, if he wins, will imo work to take away everyone's right to vote. I am sure he would still hold elections and voters would still cast their votes, but the votes wouldn't matter because the elections would be rigged. Trump has recently given a speech from which you could infer that he would do that, but then he does say a lot of stuff. But it's not his speeches that I'm looking to for evidence, it's his actions. He refused to accept the result of the 2020 election and attempted to prevent the transfer of power to Biden. Every losing candidate in the history of US elections could have tried that stunt, but I think I'm right in saying that Trump is the only one who has actually done so. Would that not be enough for you to say that Trump must be stopped and I will therefore vote for Harris as the best means of stopping him ?

Then your go to is Palestine which isn’t what you made this thread for, which you immediately tried on me, and several others.
