She needs to play SMALL places or good luck :rip: If J.Lo couldn't sell, Katy won't either. She's also terrible live (from personal experience).

ohh.. i think katy still gonna sell tickets in asia

She could be like Avril Lavigne, who has okay sales in every other continent except Asia where she is massive. She should add Unconditionally and perform it like the 2013 AMAs.

To me, and I imagine for most people, Katy represents an era of pop music that is now really dated. I don’t think she’s versatile enough to fully evolve with the times and I think that’s a big reason why 143 is going to tank. That being said, her shows are always really good fun. If she comes to Scotland I would consider getting a ticket.

Girl… Katy can barely sell $10 tickets for her Vegas show, and Witness had literally $5 tickets cause it was just not selling… what makes her label think she can go on tour??

Her team is 100% sabotaging her or something cause like, girl….

Labels are more lenient today, ig

if this was early 2010s, the label would ended the era so quickly without a tour just like Xtine's Bionic era.

i imagine touring is more possible these days because of the amount of money saved from less promo tactics; it's all done online and through tiktok rather than booking tv slots, major peformances and other things that cost travel, crew, production etc

i think she will end up doing one or two dates at big/decent venues rather than lots of arena dates so all the fans have to flock to one place

mother, what must i do?

I feared this would happen but didn't think they'd actually do it. First her team release all the album info, pre-order and official lead single ensuring that there's no going back if the rollout isn't successful but to quietly plan a tour as well? What fresh madness is this? Most tours are announced before any singles are released, to trick fans and public alike into buying non-refundable tickets for fear that a really successful era could result in tickets being impossible to buy further down the line. It's a great way to sell out a tour for an album that the label's worried could flop and it helps make up for an underperforming era if that turns out to be the case. "All over the UK?" The UK hasn't been a successful market for her since Prism. None of her Witness shows sold out here, one of them was only about 45% sold. Almost all her Witness shows couldn't sell out worldwide. And that was 6 years ago when she was selling better than she is now. :reductive:

So many risks were taken with Katy after 2 flops, it doesn't make any sense. I think part of the reason Smile was released in 2020 was so that the excuse could be used that touring was never going to be on the agenda because of pandemic restrictions and she was pregnant (though Gaga toured with Chromatica 3 years later and managed to sell out stadiums). And her Vegas residency really wasn't that successful for such a major name with such undisputed hits. Gaga pulled in more than double her total with 8 less shows. To plan a tour not to be announced until potentially after single 2 despite this is lunacy. Are her team trying to sabotage her? They must know this will end in embarrassment. Maybe it's time to pull a J-Lo and call it a greatest hits tour to sell more tickets (seeing as she didn't tour her Vegas residency, this could work) but that didn't exactly work out for J-Lo either. Better to not announce a tour at all than have to sheepishly cancel it later.

Honestly the best marketing tactic right now is to pivot the tour - which is more than likely still in its early development - into a greatest hits/comeback tour. Nostalgia sells atm more than anything else in the touring market. If the tour is marketed as the 143 album tour, you can guarantee the hype and momentum needed to sell out arenas will not be there. Because it is beyond clear no one cares about this era.

Ok but JLo did that with her recent album and had  to cancel due to low sales.

JLo initially promoted it as album tour + her tickets were too expensive. her entire album debuted with over 2 times less streams than Katy's Woman's World.

Can somebody explain to me why she sold

her catalogue?

because the future of music is unknown and in a few years their catalogs may be worth less, royalties may be lower, so many artists like Katy, Shakira, Mark Ronson, Tame Impala, Justin Bieber sold their catalogs

Yeah but JLO did it after her concept movie flopped and made her a joke & after her album released and made her a joke. And JLO was trying to mount a comeback having been musically MIA since she did the Superbowl with Shakira. Plus JLO spent months trying to flog it as an album tour with prices no one wanted to pay. It was just totally mismanaged.

Katy's floppage isn't quite at JLO levels of failure just yet. She has the chance to get the tour promo and PR story right now, before she has to start cancelling dates and rebranding.

I think she has enough of a legacy to still sell tickets. Maybe it would be smart for her to tour an adaptation of PLAY (her Vegas Residency which is basically a biggest hits show) with the addition of tracks from 143.
