But Kamala is such a unique name for Americans that it’s a good way to distinguish herself from a branding perspective. It also lends a familiarity and casualness that I think synergizes with her silly personality. Think it's worth pointing out in politics women often push their first name over their surname more than men. Partly because of some feminist influences if the surname is a man's taken via marriage. But also because women are way more heavily scrutinised in politics if they are seen to have power. A man isn't arrogant, he's strong. A woman isn't strong, she's shrill. So while male politicians will save the "Call me X" for moments where they deliberately want to be seen to remove their status and relate "man to man". Women often take the approach of "Call me Kamala" immediately because the power they have as a VP/President etc is less positive for them to be seen to wield in male dominated arenas. Franch Toast 27,737
To answer @Cello's question, Kamala Harris herself is using "Kamala" branding for her campaign, such as "KamalaHQ" on social media. Kamala is a much more memorable name than "Harris." It also highlights her Indian heritage in a way that "Harris" does not. It's also fun for memes like Kamalanomenon. She seems to enjoy puns on her name, as her bonus kids refer to her as "Mamala." It's not necessarily a gendered thing. Hillary was referred to by her first name to distinguish her from the other Clinton, but Nancy Pelosi is "Pelosi," not Nancy. People refer to Nikki Haley as "Haley," not Nikki. Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders is known as "Bernie," and Pete Buttigieg as "Pete" or "Mayor Pete." Once she announces her running mate however, I imagine we will see more "Harris | X" branding as stated by another poster. She/Her/Hers

Because it's a pretty easy to follow thing that the Republicans turned on her big time in 2020. Even during the Eras tour Fox & Friends have tried hit pieces on her. The Republicans of the NFL fanbase despise her & her fans. Etc etc The gays know how to party
