You can say the same of both sides.

Both sides enable it during periods of weakness (McCain empowering the Tea Party/Democrats during the Trump presidency are recent examples). Opening pandoras box and then lose all control. 

Plus we've gone through nearly 20 years post economic crash, and things haven't really got better for the average person. And its started getting worse again. Perfect conditions for people to embrace the people offering some variation of a perfect "painless" solution.

I mean... yeah, Hamas is "bad". But they're one of the ONLY militant groups, terrorist or otherwise, that are fighting against the IDF. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why Hamas may be celebrated by some, even if Hamas has done terrible things as well.

Americans love to point out groups like Hamas converting people into extremist terrorists. But Americans also shy away from acknowledging that the terror they inflict and fund to maintain their world power status is what pushes the disenfranchised towards extremism in the first place. Why are we so worried about pointing out the terrorism of Hamas, when America is funding a full blown genocide carried out by Israel? If we're measuring violence and death, surely Hamas is a small blip on the radar compared to what America has done in the last couple hundred years?

Not saying this to you specifically, but it kills me how people can watch The Hunger Games and understand the concept of a grassroots rebellion against an evil dictatorship, but draw the line with real-world politics. We're all smart and capable enough to approach this sh*t with nuance.
