Initially set to visit California, Denver, Houston, and Austin, he extended his stay in Rehoboth, Delaware after announcing the end of his campaign while isolating due to COVID-19. Although his physician reported his recovery, no reason was given for the cancellations. Following his resignation announcement, conspiracy theories questioning Biden's wellbeing surged among far-right commentators. Despite Biden calling into a campaign event and planning to address the nation, these theories gained traction, fueled by the lack of accompanying photos or videos with his resignation letter. Right-wing influencers falsely accused Democrats of orchestrating a "coup" and scrutinized the authenticity of Biden's letter, leading to widespread misinformation and speculation about his health. Republic reports that an X handle, Global Press Corp, claimed to have information from "a verified source" suggesting that "Joe Biden is currently in hospice care and is unlikely to survive the night."
