I understand that the hypocrisy allegations are not necessarily unfounded, but I wanted to at least make sure people got numbers right. Please do not see me mentioning the hypocrisy as me trying to make things easier for Republicans.) The former has been fact checked (This is the 2024 fact check that still agrees with the one in 2020): Kamala had only sent 45 people to prison in her 11 year time as a prosecutor. As mentioned in the video, this is notably less than Hallinan's 135 people over a shorter span of eight years. This is significantly less than the 1,500 people claim that was first circulated years ago. Not that I think it absolves her of any involvement or previous endorsement of these laws, but I do also personally like to vote for politicians who are willing to change their minds when presented with new arguments. I also remember she used prisoners as slave labor, and refused to release a prisoners, and threaten to give them higher sentences.
