Yes a lot of America is still racist but most of those people are conservative leaning who are more likely to vote for Trump regardless, no democrat is likely to get many of those ppls votes regardless Meanwhile the half of the Country that is more blue leaning is much more likely to like the idea of the first female black president tbh If anything it might hurt her a bit with a few centrist independants who are not super loyal to either party and a few of them might be bigoted enough for that to be a voting factor. Everything changes in a heartbeat. You can’t put 2016’s logics to 2024. Polls are snapshots, sure, but shows how much Biden needs to change voters’ perception. Trump is an agent of chaos, almost nothing from the politics playbook applies on him. The incumbency key as an example is so subjective, how many americans really feel that biden is governing when he struggles to make any point outside a teleprompter and even in, he still stumbles? Kamala could have the incumbency key if Biden resigns? And with that said, I don’t think the democrats’ ticket will win with either option, Biden took too long to decide, it’s too late now, although with Kamala I think they have a better shot of at least not losing by a landslide. His wife is Gabby Giffords, the former congresswoman from Az who was nearly assassinated by gunfire at a 2011 rally.
