If y'all would read the transcript, Chappell is mostly talking about her family being stalked, not just her. She mentions her sister and her parents –– it's understandable that she's concerned for their safety.

Yes, she literally did lmao. She talked about being paranoid about people breaking into her hotel rooms and trying to hurt her during the BTW era and has talked about how isolating it is to be objectified and mobbed by the public since at least the Joanne era.

not really, these kind of things she can deal with and has done it, thats why spends a lot in security for her and her family, and she saw it as something that comes with the job.

what really drew her to almost quit the industry was the isolating aspect of fame, friends in her life dumping, backstabbing, and treating her differently on top of the media heavy scrutiny and during the ARTPOP era, similar reasons during the making of chromatica, but then depression more severe and all of her other mental and physical health problems that left her suicidal.

what i mean is of course she is not indifferent to the fan stalking and its something that worries her a lot as it should, but its not the aspect of fame that really breaks her, she took care of it as soon as she saw it got out of control.

Most artists who say they're quitting or retiring have had a large following for years. Chappell is a relatively new artist and its understandable that she'd be overwhelmed.

Remarkable: this take is almost entirely divorced from the past several years of Gaga’s career!

I'm glad she's honest about her feelings. I don't thinks she's a hypocrite at all.

She made her family a promise she cannot keep and she is wondering if she still can keep it and at the same tjme perform and release music. But her fans need to help her with that and create a healthy balance.

I read this as a reminder to fans that certain behavior that is normalized in fan culture, is very scary to a celebrity and their family. It's basically Chappell saying that she loves her fans, but some are taking it too far and if they truly love her, they wouldn't go this far. Fans can act like stalkers but feel like they can because they mean well, but it's still stalking and it's crossing a border.

There are very famous people who's family can live anonymously because the majority of their fans are more mature and respectful and not caught in a parasocial relationship.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

Nah I’m so bored and tired of all these ppl saying they’re quitting music , then one year later they announce a new album

it’s tired

think about it- of all these artists who keep saying they’re done making music, they’re done releasing albums, they’re done performing live, etc

who has actually stuck to their word? Literally none of them

doja cat says this sht, Adele, ed Sharon, Charli xcx , the list goes on

i believe she will have the strength to balance everything out, it's clear to me that's she doesn't want the spotlight like early Gaga did and that'ts absolutely fine if she keeps delivering good music (and the cool outfits!!), fans need to understand that, and I hope this statement helps the situation.

Spoiler

But I won't lie, I'd love she was like early Gaga :traumatica: but that's my own problem, and she doesn't own me anything, nor I will start enjoying her music less because of it.

Ants From Up There

Y'all do realize that she has a Bipolar II diagnosis, right? While she's stated that she's more stable nowadays as opposed to a few years ago, I don't imagine it would be easy for any of us to be in the midst of a hypomanic episode with an elevated mood and full-on intrusive thoughts while having everyone walking down the street recognize you.

Reject False Icons

I thought newer generations would have a healthier approach to musicians, but nah mental illness, obsession and fanaticism is very prevalent still :flop: on different circumstances

She’s very right to feel uncomfortable, I wish more singers were more direct with fan’s psychotic behavior like Doja but they risk their own careers

Chromatica was made about this whole thing but none of us fans listen :saladga:  or want to remember and just ask her for new music as she was a robot
