Some updates on the shooter (won't let me embed tweets but they're from the Wall Street Journal) 

- He used a gun that was legally purchased by his father

- Former classmate said he had not broadcast any strong political views in school

- Explosive devices were found in his car parked near the Trump rally

We say a lot about Trump, but no one can deny that he has a keen understanding of the power of imagery and propaganda. He is a lot more calculated than we give him credit for. The second he realized the bullet missed him and he wasn't in danger, he realized he was handed a photo opportunity on a silver platter. The image of Trump as a martyr for his supporters with his head bleeding and his fist in the air against the backdrop of the American flag is something his campaign could have only dreamed of before yesterday.

He’s a brilliant opportunist, agreed. I still find it interesting that the SS let him pose for the photo - given he’d just been shot at & was bleeding, even with the shooter dead, danger was still imminent. His campaign will milk this for all its worth. It’ll become the defining image of this campaign/election. It’s really unfortunate because the real problems his presidency poses will be ignored by both the media & voters alike.

I know there is still so much more to go, but I truly do not have empathy for people who preach 2nd Amendment and NRA or "pro-life" in these instances. (Not saying someone deserves this outcome - just pointing to the hypocrisy of it all).  "Can't believe this can happen here" - where have they been over the years?  Not until it affects them, huh?

This election is probably T***p's after this, no?  He's such a martyr, took a bullet to save America - blah blah blah.

Tired of T***p's BS and Biden's camp gaslighting us about what we see with our own eyes.  (Don't worry, will vote blue this cycle - but it's really enraging on both sides for different reasons).  The media is also being way too empathetic to this event, imho.

Moving to a blue state next month - I more so fear we will not be fleeing red states - but the country overall if P2025 gets up and running.  Already started searching migration policies for various countries, my education/work background, queer rights countries, etc. just to be prepared (not a conspiracy theorist).

Yes. Back in 2016 when I was only 14 I could tell that, while Trump was dangerous, it would be his supporters that would be the most dangerous. I have never been proven wrong once in the eight years since then.

How did they know it was safe tho? They absolutely couldn’t be certain that there wasn’t a second shooter at that point. Had the Secret Service properly done their jobs, Trump wouldn’t have been able to get up to show his face, he would have been sent straight to his car while being kept to the ground surrounded by ballistic suitcases. The security was either extremely unprofessional, or there’s something more to the story. As much as I hate conspiracy theories, there are things that seem exceptionally phoney in the way events unfolded.

If anyone could pull some major bs like that, it’s Trump, so I’m not putting it past anyone for being skeptical. But yeah, let’s be careful with the speculation and wait for the authorities to get to the bottom of it all.
