How often has she spoken in a tone of feminism in a way where she sounds victimized... yet this very system shes victimized in is the same system she used to become a billionaire and become an extreme ellite in it? Yeah the system is unfair. But if u were able to exploit the system to become so rich... the unfair system benefited you more than it hurt you tbh. And talking about mysoginy or unfair capitalism practices by labels would be fine in it self and wouldnt irritate me so much if it wasnt for the fact that when Taylor has talks about her unfair injustices she has to sound like such an underdog all the time when shes clearly not I mean she has absolutely benefitted from the system - but primarily through weaponising it. And while she absolutely looks hypocritical nowadays when she is the dominant force in pop music. Lets not remember that she came into the industry at 16. And from the very start, the male dominated journalist pack attacked every aspect of her. Because they found the idea of a young girl writing about her love life to be a thoroughly comical thing in their eyes. I think any one of us who grew up queer, know exactly how it feels to soend such formative years having your identity and everything about you put under a microscope and criticised/attacked. And we all now know how those scars impact how you move through the world afterwards. So I'm not surprised she still has an underdog mentality because at the key moments in her early years of her career she was the punching bag. And likely feels like she's got to where she is despite everyone being against her, like they certainly were until the 1989 era. And were again during the Kanye Famous track controversy at the end of that era.
StrawberryBlond 14,089
I didn't know this was a record Whitney held. The records people set back in the day were something else and with one medium, one version of a song, relying on people to leave their house and go into town to purchase every copy. To see so many of these massive records broken because of changes to rules in the digital era that allows much lesser known material to take over is really sad. Billboard must step in to change this variant obsession madness, as should all international charting companies. If one person has bought one copy of an album, every future copy should be considered a duplicate sale and not allowed to count as a new sale. The artist will still gain the money from the sale but it won't add to their sales tally. If you want every variant to count as a new sale, you're going to have to do multiple different transactions and pay for it in cash at a store sometimes. Yes, it's a faff, but if you want your fave on top, so be it. It would allow for a fairer chart and will also reduce environmental waste from less vinyl being produced as less people will want to purchase multiple variants if it doesn't benefit their fave. 12 hours ago, HermioneT said: As a woman I love to see Taylor slay despite all the hate she's getting. As a woman myself, I'd rather women got to the top by playing fair and not using dirty tricks when on other women's debut release weeks. 11 hours ago, HelloHangoverz said: Understandable defintion, but I take issue with it being called "white feminism." It suggests all white women have impure intentions. I'd just call this practice "being greedy." It has nothing to do with race or gender. 1

Though really, anyone really successful has weaponized or taken advantage of the system one way or the other. In the end, i dont think it matters that much at the end of the day if u had to flip the tables or not, the end result is the same, whatever angle you used to weaponoze the system, the point is u did and u were able to take advantage of the system and be at the top and benefit yourself I do nevertheless think it sounds odd for her to still speak like that now. The unfair system that creates underdogs also made her huge. The system is more nuanced on the impact it had on Taylor Swift than just her being a woman. This same system is also capitalist and allows huge disparities to exist. Part of the system may have made it harder for her early on but part of the system also benefited her (big time) once she made it big. On a net basis as a billionaire, she benefited more from the system than she suffered thats my point. And she doesnt really represent the struggles of a typical woman (at least not for the past 17 years) Edited July 6 by Economy Typo
