Sabrina better beat that new artist curse

That was broken a long time ago! Dua got her best era after winning, Billie is Better Than Ever, Olivia and Megan seem to be doing great, Samara Joy and Victoria Monet I assume too. The winners from the 2010s were severely damaged after winning lol.

The criteria for eligibility is ridiculous. I once saw someone say "they should re-name the award to Best Artist Who Has Just Recently Come To Our Attention." It's one award, it's not going to dramatically decrease the artist's chance of a successful career in future because they weren't nominated for this one thing (if history is observed, the award has basically no bearing on who sticks around or not). Tate is considered a new artist to most of the world, I know I'd never heard of her until Greedy and she'd only made one album in 2022 by that point which didn't go anywhere. By contrast, Sabrina has been around for years, releasing 5 albums. She doesn't need a best new artist nomination just because this is her truly coming into her own as an adult artist free of Disney. You can't tell me that there isn't a push to get certain artists to the top and it depends on how pushy your team is.
