Pop music is so intrinsically tied to the personality of the artist that I would like to know if the person I’m listening to has a racist and homophobic history. You are right that proud racist was a stretch, but honestly after reading the article again I’m going to say that closeted homophobe is not at all a stretch. anyways my original point being that I do not support Paris and Rina’s support of Paris is definitely disappointing in my eyes, and opinion I will not change and have no problem making clear on an online forum, as there is no universe where “I don’t like Rina Sawayama because she is working with a racist” is a harmful comment to make. no it's not good. what is the benifit of knowing that somebody said the n/f word 10 or 20 years ago? the possibility of being triggered or triggering somebody else by sharing it? do you know how many nasty things you said in your life? no you don't because people let you forget about it and move on imagine a stranger walking to you and saying hi, here is a compilation of the worst things you said since 2004, now beg for forgivness or you're a terrible person you would look at them like they are crazy - because it is crazy

She was seemingly referring to the moment she appeared to call out her labelmate, The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, at Glastonbury Festival over his controversial remarks”. I see what you’re saying and you’re right when it comes to racism and homophobic slurs being unjustifiable. I do think she’s a bit more mature and has showed remorse for acting like an idiot when she was younger. she recently posted a reels of her in court advocating against abuse towards foster children. I think it’s a bit counterproductive to judge someone on who they were before WHEN they already showed they have a different perspective and behavior nowadays. But I understand your frustration. tks for clarifying. Smash With a Smile
