Night Vision 3,068
I definitely interpreted it as more of a diss to the people who pit her against Madonna and constantly compare them rather than towards Madonna herself. It seemed like an ironic and tongue-in-cheek response to them with the subject matter of the song and the fact that it does share noticeable similarities to Vogue that seemed intentional. StressedOut 653
I always interpreted "Money don't talk, rip that song", both with what you stated, 'rip that song' as in go ahead and reference something (even if it appears you're ripping it off), you're keeping an idea/concept relevant (kind of like giving it reverence and respect). And also, 'rip that song' like I don't care if you purchase my music, if you're talking about it I'm living (or making a living off of it, tying back in the $$$ aspect). Every album of hers is about fame in some way and i think this one is about how it effected her mental health so in the end she finds herself again

I see it this way too + the actual Chromatica Ball performances of the song look like an homage to Vogue
Jnick8 530
To me it was always a diss track, but without an obvious perpetrator. Winks to what you said ❤️ “Babylon” is a great beast.

bestie 217
I thought this too! Serve it ancient city style can be seen as a dig at Madonna's age.
