Roughhouse Dandy 8,393
Not seeing, hearing, or feeling anywhere near a 90+ score and AOTY proclamations, but she popped off and I'm glad to see her getting recognized. She pried me away from Cowboy Carter for more than 30 minutes so that's an achievement 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.
Windowlicker 3,086
Been listening to Charli since 2008, so this has been so surreal and rewarding as a longtime fan. The fact she's finding this amount of success and acclaim on her own terms is truly the best part. Reminds me a lot of how everyone suddenly woke up to Lana when she released Norman ****ing Rockwell! in 2019 despite her releasing brilliant albums for several years at that point. 3 1

She's never seemed that interesting to me, kinda faded in with other names like Bebe, Dua, etc But with a 95? I must be missing something so lemme listen sometime soon Bebe? Oh she's nothing of the sort She's basically been in her own lane since she brought out vroom vroom 10 years ago all her albums are excellent, futuristic and boundry pushing pop records. 1 2

StrawberryBlond 14,013
Liked Guess and Spring Breakers off the expanded edition but yeah, still as a whole overrated. I really don't care if it's different from most pop music (the beats are hardly new though) and the lyrics certainly don't impress me (there's not many of them to begin with). It's very odd as to where this acclaim has suddenly come from and the fact her score rises by the day as opposed to 99% of albums which drop a little bit over time, even if it's just one point. 2 hours ago, PartySick said: The only thing I've ever heard of hers is the 911 remix. I know you were let down somewhat by Chromatica (me too) so I don't know if you'll like this either. I value lyrical excellence, so this was not the album for me. Just remember that regardless of what people try to tell you, you aren't "missing something" if you don't like it. The beauty of taste is that it's subjective.

Of course, it was the time to massively hate Gaga and everything else, but someone who is so stupidly influenced by the media (that applies now, in the midst of the 'poptimism' era) can never be a good critic or someone with an opinion to respect. Spoiler btw, brat is good Edited June 11 by rinasawachanta

Because slots 8-16 are all tied with a score of 95. not to nitpick but i think metacritic is very precise with their calculations. it may look tied but she may be 95.0 and the one ranked above her might be 95.13 or something. i could be wrong though Edited June 11 by ssslyboy
tylerjs 5,424
Listen, I am the king of tearing things apart. I can find critiques for almost anything as y’all may know this is one of those albums that you either get it, or you don’t. and it’s fine if you don’t, but it’s objectively an outstandingly soaring display of pop culture at its peak. you simply can’t take it for face value, because it has so much more to offer than what most people will ever grasp. it’s a truly incredible body of work and it absolutely deserves to be recognized as one of the best pop records of all time. charli is so immensely talented and this very well could be her magnum opus (if she doesn’t outdo this album in the future) Edited June 11 by tylerjs 🇨🇺🇧🇸 monica from rhoslc kinda had a point 2 2
