Dennis 8,391
Honestly, I'm sick of the normalization of this and I've decided to speak out more about it. I saw a protest near the White House today and my thoughts are that this movement allowed itself to be tainted, made it more politically risky for celebrities to support it and they should bear the responsibility for their actions. Hamas is a terrorist organization that calls for the killing of Jews anywhere and everywhere in the world, in its founding charter, sends gay people to prison JUST FOR BEING gay. Hezbollah leader literally giving a speech on video saying gay people should be executed. Don't expect Gaga to come fully in support of a movement that allows supportive slogans of some of the most homophobic/antisemitic organizations in the world. There could've been a better to voice opposition to the war. They chose to normalize this in the movement. So yeah next time before you criticize Gaga, understand her concerns. Juanlittlem 41,554
She can stand with Palestine and not support Hamas. Easy as that. Dennis 8,391
Just now, Mr Oak said: Um okay Bobby? How come you know her concerns, Dennis? I mean it's obvious. She clearly opposes human suffering, it goes without saying. But the poltical support for a movement becomes riskier if that movement normalizes/allows hate among its ranks. Exactly, can't wait to see her supporting Palestine and condemning Israel then
Edonis 28,622
You can support Palestinians without calling for the extinction of Jews or the mass execution of gays. This constant conflation I keep seeing from American liberals is tiring. Anyways, your obsession with dragging pro-Palestinian activists (including queer Arabs who, from what I've seen, you really don't give a flying **** about since you never actually acknowledge their struggles outside the context of current events and truly don't listen to their voices on this website when they speak up) continues to baffle me. 1

Crazy how no one asks the protestors to support Palestine without supporting Hamas and Hezbollah, but if we rightfully complain about the slogans they use in their protests (consistently btw), we're the bad ones. Lucas 24,023
99% of people out there support Palestine, not Hamas. Actually I'm quite sure most people don't know what is Hamas lol

You really like to play the victim here huh. No one in this forum has said Hamas being a terrorist group is okay. We just support Palestine. On the other side we have you bringing attention to Hamas supporters having those slogans and you supporting Israel. Mind you, these threads are locked 90% of the time yet youre still bringing them when you know is going to create conflict. If you take issue with me calling out support for terrorism and homophobia that's your issue. You could've said "hey I support Palestine but I disagree with these protestors and we need to make sure our movement remains faithful to humanitarian values" but no, instead you're attacking people who condemn hate. This is exactly why protestors continue to do that, simply because it draws no condemnation from anyone. It's normalized now. This, as the VAST majority of pro-Palestinian do Yet again, there's no reason to be calling attention to a few weirdos hanging on the fringe. It's just rage bait. And it's getting so extremely old. Supporting Palestine and being against Israel's genocide and occupation doesn't have to have anything to do with Hamas. I don't personally need Gaga to speak out on this issue either tbh. If she did, great, I would stan tf out of that. But if she doesn't, she's still the same person with a heart of gold that helped me through a lot of stuff. People are allowed to be disappointed that their favorite artists aren't being active in certain ways. That's what happens when you become a public figure - you're subjected to public opinion on certain things. Political activism is one of those things. 3 1
