Honestly, it doesn't mean much if you don't win a Grammy. Their criteria for being nominated, let alone winning, have always been finnicky. Tons of smaller artists get overlooked simply because their name isn't interesting enough on a ballot. Whereas other artist seem to automatically win due to their hype value.

Of course it's really great if you manage to win at any given time, and I don't want to discredit winners at all. But The Grammys are anything but objective or comprehensive in their voting.

As for Miley: her reputation as a provocateur really overshadowed her musicianship at the start of her "adult" career. With plenty "more palatable" candidates around, I suppose the Acadamy didn't consider her as a serious artist until now.

Love Miley down but let's not act like her shenanigans to shed her Disney image from 2013 up until 2017 didn't overshadow her artistry a little bit. People had a hard time taking her seriously for a long time.
