CupcakkesWig

In a candid interview on BBC One, CupcakKe sat down with journalist to discuss her latest venture, a children's book titled "Naughty Cosby", which has raised eyebrows due to its provocative title and subject matter. Despite the controversy, CupcakKe explained that the book aims to promote self-empowerment and body positivity in young children, using humor and relatable characters to tackle tough topics. When asked about her music, CupcakKe hinted at a new album in the works, revealing that she's been experimenting with different sounds and styles, and promising fans that it will be her "most daring and provocative work yet".

Fiona Apple: ‘Roaring Blue Flame’ MV

Earlier today, Fiona Apple returned with her new single entitled ‘Roaring Blue Flame’. This marks her first release since signing with Archive Records, which is also the first time in her nearly three-decade career that she has been signed to a major label.

To accompany the release of ‘Roaring Blue Flame’, Apple has released a music video which she produced and directed alone. She explained that it was sacrosanct for her that the vision she had for the song, which she also wrote alone, was not possibly diluted by other viewpoints. In a recent Instagram Live, she admitted that she recognises ‘other perspectives are important to inform creativity, but that she’s ‘perfectly fine with the end product resembling an insular perspective, because the song does too’.

The music video opens with a black screen, which opens up to show a close-up Apple in what appears to be a wooden box. As the camera pans outwards, it gradually becomes evident that she’s in a coffin, and then at the precise moment her eyes open in panic, the lid is flipped shut. The screen fades to black again, and the sounds of trudging footsteps can be heard, and then digging, and finally the loud thud of the coffin presumably being dropped into the ground. As the song begins, a wide frame of a woodland area is shown, with a patch of clearly freshly dug earth.

Throughout the music video, Apple never sings the words of the song as it plays - rather, it appears as though she is offering a theatrical performance. Apple is seen in a church in one scene, knelt at the alter with her head in her hands. The camera pans to the stained glasses windows, which show a scene of the crucifixion. Another scene shows Apple on a small boat with a dog, lost at sea, the wind thrashing the boat around as she holds the dog close and clings onto the boat for dear life. A strike of lightning interrupts the song for a beat, and all that can be heard is the storm, Apple’s laboured breathing, and a whimper from the dog.

The song resumes, and Apple is running down a corridor, chased by a shadowy figure, eclipsed by satirical flickering lighting. She continues running, until suddenly there is no more floor in the corridor, and she is freefalling from a tall building, with the screen flickering to white instead of showing the impact. Scenes flash of Apple in a hospital bed, interchanged with scenes of her comfortable in her own bed, and these continue to interchange with increasing pace as the song gathers in momentum.

As the song comes to an end, Apple wakes up in the coffin, buried alive, and her muffled screams are drowned out by the cacophonous ending of the song.

‘Roaring Blue Flame’ is available for digital download now. It is also available on all streaming platforms, and CD singles of the song are available on her website.

The music video is available to stream on YouTube, Vevo, and the Fiona Apple website.

It will also be shown on all major MTV music channels periodically in the regions of Canada, USA, Latin America, UK, Portugal, Switzerland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, and Japan.

Clips from the music video are also available as live wallpaper on streaming platforms such as Spotify.

Electrifying Performance and Raw Emotion: Luna Luna Captivates The View with 'Shadow of the Moon'!

Performance Description

Spoiler

Luna Luna's performance of "Shadow of the Moon" on Good Morning America was nothing short of mesmerizing. As the lights dimmed, a haunting melody filled the studio, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience. Luna Luna emerged, her shorter wild hair adding to the fierce intensity of her presence. She wore a mask made of stark geometric shapes and industrial materials, perfectly complementing her edgy, post-punk fashion.

As she began to sing the opening lines, "Dance in the shadow, Shadow of the moon," her voice carried a raw, emotional depth that immediately captivated the audience. The dynamic lighting cast eerie shadows, highlighting the dark, brutalist elements of the set. The moon, a central symbol in the song, loomed large and haunting above, casting a ghostly light that added to the surreal atmosphere.

Her movements were fluid yet powerful, embodying the struggle and defiance expressed in the lyrics. The chorus, "Just dance, Just dance, In the shadow of the night," saw Luna Luna contorting and twisting her body, conveying both vulnerability and strength. The mask she wore glinted under the stage lights, adding a metallic sheen to her already striking appearance.

As she sang, "Broken glass is shattering all around, I keep on screaming with no sound," Luna Luna's voice wavered with emotion, her eyes reflecting the pain and resilience of the song's themes. The audience was entranced, hanging on every word and movement. The dark, industrial beats of the song provided a perfect backdrop for her intense performance, with heavy synths and abrasive rhythms that resonated deeply with the viewers.

The energy in the studio was palpable as she reached the final chorus, "Dancing in the shadow of the moon." Her voice soared, filled with a sense of liberation and defiance. The audience erupted in applause, moved by the raw and powerful performance they had just witnessed.

Breathless but exhilarated, Luna Luna stood on stage, her eyes shining with excitement and gratitude. The hosts of Good Morning America quickly joined her, eager to discuss the electrifying performance and delve deeper into the artistry and emotion behind "Shadow of the Moon."

Good Morning America Interview with Luna Luna

GMA: Wow, Luna Luna, that was an electrifying performance! The energy here is incredible. How are you feeling right now?

Luna Luna: (Breathing heavily but smiling) Thank you so much! I'm exhilarated and a bit out of breath, but it feels amazing. Performing "Shadow of the Moon" live is always such a rush.

GMA: The audience loved it! Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind "Shadow of the Moon"?

Luna Luna: Absolutely. "Shadow of the Moon" is about navigating through a corrupted world and dealing with a corrupted mind. It explores themes of alienation, dystopia, and self-discovery. The moon symbolizes a guiding light amidst the chaos, something that keeps you going even when everything else seems dark.

GMA: Your performance was so intense and captivating. How do you channel that energy on stage?

Luna Luna: It's a mix of the music and the message behind it. I put everything into my performances because the themes are so personal to me. Growing up in a small town just outside Calgary, Canada, I often felt different and out of place. Music was my way of expressing those feelings and finding my own path. On stage, I try to convey all that intensity and emotion to connect with the audience.

GMA: You definitely connected with us and our viewers. Can you give us a little teaser about your upcoming untitled album?

Luna Luna: I'm so excited about the album! It delves even deeper into the themes of "Shadow of the Moon." Each track is a chapter in the journey through a corrupted world and mind, blending haunting vocals, heavy synths, and abrasive industrial beats. It's designed to take listeners on an intense, immersive experience. I can't wait to share it with everyone.

GMA: We can't wait to hear it! Thank you so much for joining us today and for that incredible performance. We're excited to see where your journey takes you next.

Luna Luna: Thank you! It's been amazing being here.
