TEANUS 12,380
ARIANA GRANDE PERFORMS AT 2024 GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL (JUNE 28, 2024) Ariana Grande has been on fire this month promoting her newest album, ‘Eternal Sunshine’, which dropped by surprise this prior Monday, June 24. Since releasing the album, she’s appeared on everything from The Howard Stern Show to Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote it and its newest single, “Yes, And?”. Following a mini-concert on Good Morning America as part of the 2024 Summer Concert Series, she’s taken her promotional trek to the 2024 Glastonbury Festival in the United Kingdom! The performance seemed to tell a story of healing and re-establishing one's own self-empowerment. Ariana's set opened with a track from 'Eternal Sunshine', "We Can't Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)", debuted earlier this month on Saturday Night Live in a strings-only version. The performance began with the strings from the previously mentioned SNL appearance - leading the audience to roar with excitement as they realized Ari's set was beginning. As the audience settled, dancers began to fill the corners of the stage before she was finally brought on stage lying on a flat, gray stretcher-like prop. The cameras filmed from above to project onto the stage's screens, causing the audience to cheer once more as the beat for "We Can't Be Friends" finally began. The dancers slowly lowered the prop onto the stage as Ariana began singing the song's first verse before rolling off of it onto the floor, as if she was being thrown off of it. By the song's first chorus, she was trying to stand up, but failing repeatedly until new dancers came to aide her during the second verse. During the song's second chorus she and the dancer began performing light choreography that seemed to portray the dancers healing her or helping her to learn to function again. For the final moments of the song, they continued to try to help her, seeming to dissipate - however. As "We Can't Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)" ended, the lights went out on the stage sans a single, extremely bright, spotlight emerged, shining on Ariana only. She finally seemed more at attention and aware of her surroundings, also displaying more strength in her movements. She turned to the audience finally and smiled, causing them to cheer and scream. After a few seconds she spoke to audience, exhaling "ahhhhh.....finally, 'Eternal Sunshine'", before her newest album's title track began to play. She sang "Eternal Sunshine" as breezily as it is delivered on its parent album of the same name, carrying the melody and delivering the lyrics regarding acceptance and revelation. The Ariana fans in the audience reveled in the experience of hearing the track live. Throughout the first half of the song, she walked to the far edges of the stage with the microphone, moving to a new area during after each verse. During the later moments of the songs, the dancers made their way back to the stage again in new outfits. After "Eternal Sunshine", Ariana took a moment to thank Glastonbury and its 2024 audience for caring about her performance. She gave a short speech about the meaning of her new album, sharing that "it's about moving on, not focusing on the past, but on the future, and being excited about it. But.....it's also about taking comfort in having good memories, and the strength that it takes to accept your traumas as something that helped you grow. So on that note, while we're focusing on the new tonight, it wouldn't be right to remind you that.....I have 'No Tears Left to Cry'". The audience roared as the iconic vocal harmony section from Ariana's 2018 single began to play. Soon Ariana began to sing along with the track of the harmony before asking the audience to sing along and moving into the song's first verse. Throughout the song, the dancers brought different structural props to the stage, including poles and jungle-gym like structures, along with stairs at one point, helping Ariana interact with them during the verses. Towards the end of the song, they brought some white chairs onto the stage. Right after "No Tears Left to Cry" ended, "7 Rings" began, with the audience immediately recognizing the song's opening segment. She and a few female-only dancers performed seductive choreography full of sexual innuendos and hints towards different sexual positions. The performance overall was very sexually charged and female focused, turning the track about materialism and finding comfort in that into an empowerment number for women. During the rap verse in the bridge, the dancers took the chairs away as Ariana made her way to edge of the stage to get as close to the audience as possible. After "7 Rings", Ariana and the dancers took a moment to breathe before the synths from "Break Free", Ariana's 2014 smash single, were heard. The audience roared as a few more dancers made their way to the stage. Ari participated in the choreo on a lighter level - focusing more on her vocals as the dancers delivered the full number. Ari sang the first verse and chorus of the song before going directly into the bridge and its iconic powerhouse vocal moment, during which the song's instrumental dropped out. "Into You", Ariana's 2016 single, began immediately after she finished the final note from "Break Free". The switch up ignited the audience once more - appreciating the transitional moment. After an instrumental break, Ariana went right into the second verse of "Into You", performing that verse before doing more light choreography with the dancers during the chorus. A shortened version of the song's bridge followed along with more powerhouse vocals from Ari during a final chorus. At the end of the "Break Free" / "Into You" medley, Ariana and the dancers left the stage to take another breather. During the interlude, a mysterious, synth-y instrumental played, accompanied by a guitar and a piano - before crescendoing into a simple guitar solo. The guitar soon transitioned into the opening riff of “Imperfect For You”, the soft-rock inspired ballad track from ‘Eternal Sunshine’. Ariana reappeared on stage and began singing the song after walking up to a mic stand. During the choruses of the song, Ari asked the audience to put their hands up and wave along to the song’s mid-tempo rhythm. As “Imperfect For You” concluded, Ariana sang the chorus again acapella before the dancers approached her to remove part of her outfit. As the removed her outfit, the looped vocal sample intro of “Yes, And?”, the second single from ‘Eternal Sunshine’, began. As the vocal harmonies of the song began, dancer started to fill the stage, hinting towards a big dance number to follow. When the beat exploded, pyrotechnics on the stage went off. During the first verse of “Yes, And?” Ari and the dancers assumed Vogue-like poses along with the beat until the pre-chorus, when they broke out into full-fledged choreo for the chorus. The song continued as she and the dancers performed an intricate routine. When the song’s spoken word bridge arrived, the dancers left the stage and Ariana delivered the final chorus of the song alone. She gave powerhouse vocals for the end of the song, adding in new ad-libs. After “Yes, And?” concluded, the earworm intro of “The Boy Is Mine” began. Ariana made her way to a mic stand again to sing the song, delivering the soft, sultry vocals. During the first chorus of the song Ari left the mic stand and made her way to the front of the stage once again. Throughout the rest of the song, instrumental breaks were added to give time to Ariana to highlight each member of the band and give them time to do a little solo. At the end of the performance, Ari, the dancers, and the band gave a bow before concluding the 40 minute set. Setlist: 1. We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love) 2. Eternal Sunshine 3. TEANUS 12,380
ARIANA GRANDE APPEARS ON THE JONATHAN ROSS SHOW, PERFORMS “YES, AND?” (JUNE 29, 2024) Ariana Grande is keeping her British fans fed this month! After launching the lead single, “The Boy Is Mine”, from her new album, ‘Eternal Sunshine’, in the United Kingdom earlier this month, she returned this week to perform at the Glastonbury Festival. Following the performance, she also appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show, where she discussed her newest single, “Yes, And?” and her Glastonbury set - and performed the single. **Jonathan Ross:** Welcome back, everyone! Tonight, we have the incredible Ariana Grande with us. Ariana, thanks for being here. **Ariana Grande:** Thank you for having me, Jonathan. It's great to be here. **Jonathan Ross:** Now, Ariana, last night you performed at Glastonbury Festival. How was that experience for you? **Ariana Grande:** Oh, Jonathan, it was truly a bucket list moment for me. Glastonbury has such an incredible history, and to be on that stage, performing for such an amazing crowd, it was absolutely surreal. Definitely one of the defining moments of my career so far. **Jonathan Ross:** That's amazing to hear. And I hear your new single, "Yes, And?" is making waves. Can you tell us about the inspiration behind that song? **Ariana Grande:** Absolutely. "Yes, And?" is kind of a pushback against all the noise and unnecessary focus on my personal life in the media. Sometimes it feels so misplaced and pointless, you know? The song is about asserting my own narrative and not letting others define who I am or what my life should be. **Jonathan Ross:** That's a powerful message indeed. And your new album, "Eternal Sunshine," how does it feel to perform songs from it? **Ariana Grande:** It's been a much-needed release, honestly. This album has allowed me to explore new sounds and emotions in my music. Performing these songs live is a different kind of experience—it's cathartic, it's liberating. I'm really excited for everyone to experience the rest of the era and what we have planned. **Jonathan Ross:** Well, we can't wait to see it. Ariana, thank you so much for joining us tonight. It's been a pleasure chatting with you, now surely you’ll perform for us right? **Ariana Grande:** Thank you, Jonathan. The pleasure's been mine. And oh I guess so….if you insist *laugh* **Jonathan Ross:** Ladies and gentlemen, when we come back a performance from Ariana Grande of her newest single, “Yes, And?”! When the show returned, Jonathan introduced Ariana’s performance and the audience roared with excitement. As the camera panned towards the stage, “Yes, And?” began playing. Once the camera faced the stage, Ari was seen standing with four dancers behind her. When the vocal harmonies began, she and the dancers began snapping their fingers. When the song’s beat dropped, the dancers began performing intricate choreography. The first verse arrived and Ariana began singing the song’s empowering lyrics. Throughout the verse and pre-chorus, she leaned into the dancers in either direction. When the chorus arrived, she joined the dancers in performing the song’s choreography. During the second verse, she and the dancers twirled around the stage - as if in ballet form. Once the chorus arrived again, she and the dancers broke into choreography once again. During the spoken-word bridge, the dancers sat on the floor with their legs crossed as Ariana paraded around them, as if she was lecturing them. For the final chorus, the dancers laid down on the stage as Ari continued to parade around them until the end of the song, when she posed in the center of them. TEANUS 12,380
ARIANA GRANDE COVERS VOGUE MAGAZINE (JUNE 30, 2024) Ariana Grande has taken over the music industry and the magazine stands this month. Having launched her seventh studio album, 'Eternal Sunshine', last week after the lead single dropped earlier in the month, she's previously covered Elle and Vanity Fair to promote the music. Now, in her first magazine cover since the album was released, she has appeared on the cover of Vogue. On how Ariana has used music, among other things, to overcome trauma: "Trauma is a sliding scale. There's so many different kinds, generally external or internal, in my opinion. External is obviously the things that people do to you, and internal is the reactions you have to the things that people may say or just how you react to whats happening in the world around you. Life is hard, and Lady Gaga said a few times, "people can do hard things", and I totally love that line - as simplistic as it is. And overcoming trauma is hard - again, it's a sliding scale. For me, I definitely used music in a huge way along that path. Being able to put feelings into lyrics and music is a total blessing - I would probably be crazy without it. It's an act of letting it go and then feeling a synergy when it comes out and it connects with people, it gets better and better with each step." How 'Eternal Sunshine' differs from all of her previous projects: "Definitely the focus. 'Eternal Sunshine' is different from my other albums in so many ways, but its level of focus is definitely on another level in comparison to all of them. I think it's because I waited to so long to officially 'start' it. I had a lot of ideas along the way after 'Positions' and then during The Voice and during the filming of Wicked, but something in me knew it wasn't the stuff for an album yet - maybe someday, but not for the album that I somewhere knew I wanted to put out. When I finally got to that point and had that light bulb moment, it was the only thing on my mind for those three months. And then there's the meaning of focus in terms of what I'm trying to say. I feel like that the messages are very refined, no matter how literally or imaginatively they are presented. With this album I wanted to share the experience of accepting what's happened and finding out how to take it with you to move forward." Ariana's thoughts on aging, in her personal life and in the industry: "I'm excited to keep growing and getting older. My Nonna is probably by far the coolest, realest person I know, and I hope that I am half as wise and full as she is when I get to be at that point in my life. She would hate me if I said 'when I get to be her age'. As far as growing in the industry, I hope to keep expanding. R.E.M. Beauty was a first of that kind of thing for me. I've never done anything that I guess people would say qualifies me as a 'businesswoman' per say, until that, and I'm definitely looking forward to starting something like that again, as long as i'm passionate about it. But my focus will always be music and acting, those are the places where I feel like I can excel and express myself the most." TEANUS 12,380
ARIANA GRANDE PERFORMS ON X FACTOR UK (JUNE 30, 2024) Ariana Grande has taken the UK by storm for the second time this month! After launching the 'Eternal Sunshine' era with its lead single, "The Boy Is Mine", in the United Kingdom earlier this month, she returned earlier in the week to perform at the 2024 Glastonbury Festival, where she joined other artists like Taylor Swift. While in the UK, she also appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show and The X Factor, where she performed a medley of "The Boy Is Mine" and "Yes, And?". After being introduced by the show's host, the performance began with Ariana sitting in a chair on the stage alone, accompanied only by a single spotlight. After the cheering from the audience died down, she began singing the first verse of "The Boy Is Mine" acapella. Fans in the audience sang along with the multi-week number one single, slowing themselves down to match Ari's slower tempo for the acapella segment. At the end of the first verse, she held a long note before counting down "1...2...3...4...5...The Boy Is Mine" and launching into the song's chorus. During the song's chorus, she made her way to either side of the stage's wings to pretend to "drag" male dancers onto the stage. After the song's chorus, she said "come on boys" and they launched into an instrumental dance break. After the brief dance break, the male dancers all looked at Ariana before she said "okay boys....I'm done with you. Bring in my girls please". The male dancers shrugged her off and walked off the stage as other male dancers carried new, female dancers onto the stage as "Yes, And?" began. The song's introduction was shortened before Ari and the now all-female troupe of dancers launched into the song's choreography. Throughout the song's first verse, she and the girls executed the choreography with ultimate precision. When the song's chorus arrived, she focused more on the vocals, delivering new vocal runs different from the album version. The track was shortened, going straight into its spoken-word bridge, during which she and the dancers formed a circle on the stage and moved in its shape. For the song's final chorus, she and the dancers simply galavanted around the stage, making it a celebratory moment with a euphoric energy.
