I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Great, but can't help but feel the only outcome will be a $10 voucher that can only be used for certain events :yennefer:

You know I got one of those once and by the time I found an event it said “all vouchers have been claimed”

like cool thanks

Consumer demand, price regulation and control seems entirely lost on you?

This is a capitalist democracy. Of course we get to hold monopolies accountable for excessively high prices that limit accessibility.

I suffer no lack-mentality. I am not a person of poverty, but even I can see the common sense in not excluding people with lower incomes from culture because, after all, gays, POC, oppressed minorities and those born into tragic circumstances are the ones who make the best art.

Monopolization is a legal issue not an event at the oppression Olympics.

Monopolies are companies that have a monopoly over _________. Would you like me to fill in the blank for you?

This is a public issue.

I kindly invite you to retire that wine to the back of the cupboard, sign off and take a nap.

Your example is objectively flawed. There are plenty of concerts to go to (within varying price ranges, even free ones) but it may not be the one you want. That doesn’t mean you get to demand that the one you do want to go to has to lower their prices. The value of the product is what determines the cost and if you don’t feel that the cost is justified DONT GO. It’s not like food or water or other necessities. Demanding access to luxuries is the height of entitled, privileged gross behavior.

My example is not flawed. If you want to go to the one and only Lady Gaga, she only signs under Live Nation. So you must go under live nation to buy her ticket. Even resale is still live nation, since it’s still their ticket they originally sold.

I paid $180 for two GA tickets to see Gaga in 2014. Why did I have to pay $850 for the same two tickets in 2020? All under Live Nation albeit

At the end of the day there’s no point in trying to sway your opinion on this matter. But your comparisons are very wrong

What in the nonsensical hell? The public decides if a company is a monopoly? You do know we’re not talking about the board game right?

Again. You didn’t HAVE to pay $850. That is my ONLY point. You chose to because her value is $850 to you or you wouldn’t have paid it. Now the question is why did you pay that if you didn’t think it was worth it? But I understand we can respectfully agree to disagree. Have a great night!

When & where did I say that?

Looks like I do have to fill in the blank, after all. :smh:

Monopolies are companies that have a monopoly over public markets.

If they refuse to supply public demand, they lose market shares.

You're acting like inflating ticket prices to an almost criminal standard is... appropriate?

There's a reason the feds are shutting this down. It's because it's not right.

If you seriously can't see there's no point in trying to take this devastatingly uninteresting "debate" any further. I don't argue with uninformed/unedcuated forum users. It's a supreme waste of my time.

It’s the full chest confidence in your posts while saying nothing of substance that is so wild.

The DOJ hasn’t shut anything down first of all start there. And based on the definition of a monopoly they will most likely fail in their attempts to do so. But, since you don’t know what the actual arguments and/or definitions are, you wouldn’t know that. Instead, you think that if you throw out every liberal buzzword you can that it somehow makes your argument more valid. Not tonight Satan. NOW we can be done. Thanks.

This statement coming from the user who, not only possesses a rather tragic/twisted view of economics, but has made two such insanely massive and inaccurate assumptions about me. :toofunny:

Not that I have to correct you, [and like you even care, you're consistently resorting to personal insults because you're losing this argument to an embarrassing degree], but it might interest you to know that I have a Business Studies A-level, attended a conservative college and was awarded the qualification by the top academic body in the UK. And you certainly have no clue about which way I vote.

The amusing thing with users like you, who recklessly allow identity politics to cloud your every statement, is that you hypocritically accuse other users of the exact thing you're guilty of.

You are the one who brought politics into this, because you appear to lack the capacity to conjure a thought that isn't politically motivated. Have you ever studied the concept of respect? I think you could use a refresher course.

Economics doesn't care about your feelings.

Have a lovely night. :huntyga:
