Ouch. nlg though I agree with pretty much everything they said. There's moments of scattered brilliance, but overall this album doesn't come close to her previous two. It doesn't feel as realised.

I'm fine, Ta

I think it's her best album. One complete thought in 10 parts. I don't skip a song. It's something I listen to as a whole. That's a challenging feat in the age of streaming. I would choose this above her other albums any day.

And for the weirdos, yes, I also love Taylor and TTPD.

makes the fact that they gave Joanne a 6.9 even more interesting. They actually always give Gaga pretty good reviews. I bet they'll review LG7 nicely if its pretty good.

Billie is entering Lana territory imo where she had 3 behemoth smash albums and now shes probably gonna do whatever she wants for the rest of her career

I’ve been listening to it nonstop since it came out. I think it’s an incredible body of cohesive songwriting and unique lyrics, sounds and melodies. It kind of feels like a brief survey of what makes Billie so good. I’m hearing familiar dark sounds that I love and expect from Billie (The Diner), godly ethereal vibes (Blue), totally new directions for Billie (Birds), great vocals (the Greatest), catchiness (Lunch), and unconventionality (L’amour). Lyrically, I love how she’s delving deeper into personal relationships, sex and love.

As a whole, it’s certainly stronger and more mature than than her debut album, but since we’ve been listening to Billie for years now, HMHAS doesn’t carry the same impact of hearing Bad Guy or ilomilo for the first time. It’s almost like her talent is a double edged sword; she’s so talented, so we expect so much from her. We are comparing career highs to career highs. She has 3 albums with Finneas, and although they are all superb, of course they all have a similar vibe. I get how some critics could react negatively towards that, but I’m fine with it.

Now compared to HTE, I find HMHAS’s succinctness really attractive. HTE felt bloated at times. This album is lean and begs for replays, unlike recent releases from Taylor and Bey.

No song on this album tops the song Happier than Ever, so I'm not sure yet where HMHAS will end up in my ranking of her albums.

ngl i genuinely like how u use the word bloated esp just with current bodies of work having like so much it’s nice to see it reeled back a little and i kinda hope more albums follow suit

and yeh HTE has that visceral emotional pull that rly for me WILDFLOWER got me there but not in a way i want to punch the air and scream my lungs out

sonically tho i feel like this album is deff her more cohesive but i thinks that’s due to some transitions being so buttery

I only really liked 2 songs on the album so it might be a little high. Her songs can never stay a consistent volume either, one minute she’s whispering and the next the bass is blowing me away :deadbanana:
