The International Criminal Court is seeking arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, among others, on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court said he is seeking arrest warrants for Israeli and Hamas leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Karim Khan said that Netanyahu, Israel's Defence Minister Yoav Gallant and three other Hamas leaders — Yehya Sinwar, Mohammed Deif and Ismail Haniyeh — were responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Amongst other alleged crimes, a statement issued by the ICC accused Netanyahu and Gallant of using starvation of civilians as a method of warfare and "intentionally directing attacks against a civilian population as a war crime".

Sinwar, Al-Masri and Haniyeh were accused of murder as a crime against humanity, acts of sexual violence and taking hostages as a war crime.

Khan has said that there is ground to believe the men involved bear responsibility for war crimes from the start of Israel's military action in Gaza.

He added that “the effects of the use of starvation as a method of warfare, together with other attacks and collective punishment against the civilian population of Gaza, are acute, visible and widely known." He also said that Hamas's actions on 7 October "demand accountability”.

They need to arrest Putin first when they made that warrant. It's useless.

I'm guessing you are referring to the arrest warrant for Putin issued last year?

The ICC is powerless and always has been

It is pointless against Putin (and Hamas tbh) but it will not be useless against Netanyahu, as he is propped up as a Western ally who deserves international political support. Obviously he won't be arrested but this might be an important stepping stone for countries to be more bold about their stance against the Israeli government, to impose sanctions, halt military aid, etc.

Also, Israeli propagandists have been using the lack of formal/legal prosecutions against Israel against protestors for months now. The ICC's formal acknowledgment of Israel's war crimes and the intentional targeting of civilians is a huge turning point in how this war will be publicly discussed.

I'm glad they announced in the same breath they are also prosecuting Hamas leaders (as they should). No "ICC is Hamas!!" pathetic counterarguments this time.

The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has applied for arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas's leader, Yehiya Sinwar, in Gaza on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Karim Khan said there were reasonable grounds to believe that both men bore criminal responsibility for war crimes and crimes against humanity from at least 7 October 2023.

The ICC, based in The Hague, has been investigating Israel's actions in the occupied territories for the past three years - and more recently the actions of Hamas as well.

Mr Netanyahu recently called the prospect of senior Israel figures joining the ICC's wanted list "an outrage of historic proportions".

Not Biden pushing back…

Biden is not a good person and a pushover so when he can’t be pushed he resorts to supporting evil

It doesn’t help that the “vote blue no matter who” crowd is coddling him I think :ohwell:

Like, we all saw how all the “vote and then criticize him” or “vote and then push him left” things turned out to be, surprise surprise, liberal lies.

Oh and I’ll just go ahead and say that “Trump is worse” is not a legitimate argument. Again, you should pressure politicians to be electable, not gaslight people into voting for them.

So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.
