Melissa Barrera clarifies that she hasn't been fired from Scream 7

At a Scream panel earlier this year she also clarified than she was always originally planned to be featured in a 2 movies deal and that she was totally satisfied of her character's end.

Totally true, that said, even without the issue here, sometimes it happens scritps are scrapped and actors dropped before signing anything.

I mean Mason Gooding and Jasmyn Sovoy Brown were also dropped while having like zero link into this mess. Sounds like original Scream 7 scrip have been totally axed right after writers strike, once Jenna Ortega said she wasn't available anymore.

I like her a lot but scream 7 needs Sidney not Sam. This couldn’t have worked out better imo.

In all honesty in both cases Scream doesn't need Melissa and Melissa doesn't need Scream. Both will do perfectly fine without each other.

I love Melissa so much with what she brought to the table, especially Scream VI, and absolutely respect what she stands for. Ever since that movie was announced and they said Neve was not coming back I was like "Ok, this is good for the franchise, let this stand on it's own feet with the new cast and directors, Sidney doesn't have to be part of this one, maybe the next one could focus on her". So after the sad news that they're not coming back it was a bit shocking but happy that it's going to be a main Sidney story with Kevin Williamson to direct. Such a shame things went that way with Melissa because there were rumors about a big ensemble cast with all of the survivors and maybe they still do it in the future, but as a fan I'm excited to see more Sidney and Gale now. Hopefully they do a proper ending because what else is there to say?

So when everyone was pissed at the production company & saying they won’t support the next Scream for Palestine, she couldn’t have said “it’s nothing about that, they support me, I was never coming back!” ?

She actually didn't say this as well, she said she was planned to be in Scream 7 before writers strike happened but never signed for the movie itself.

Mason Gooding also said recently that he read the original script and was there but they never called him back since and he guessed that he wasn't part of it anymore

Even before the Melissa Barrera situation happened sources said that writers camp was back reworking script right after the strike.
