DelusionalGaga 29,409
Oh Billie, the artist that you are. This is pure excellence. The lyrics, the production, how differently she's using her voice. It's all so immediate. It's so hard to pick a favorite. 1

I'm really not understanding the adoration it's receiving. All the tracks have very simple and basic lyrics and half of them are actually quite boring. To get a 92 on MC you have to create a truly lyrical album and this was not it. I liked Lunch, Wildflower, The Greatest, Bittersuite and Blue but Lunch and Wildflower were the only 2 that were above average. It was rather monotonous and one note for the most part. Happier Than Ever remains my favourite from her and I hoped she was going to build on that so was let down somewhat. But it turned out being passable which is all I ask for these days from people I'm casual fans of. The way it started off and how we didn't get good songs till quite far in, I feared it wasn't even going to get that far. Seriously, a 92? And it started off at 95 originally?! I really don't get why so many critics are this easily impressed by such simple lyrics. I've listened to far more lyrical masterpieces than this that don't even get close to this ranking. But tbh I love the storytelling and 123 punch of THE GREATEST, L'AMOUR DE MA VIE, and THE DINER but today I just realized the violins at the end of SKINNY are connected to THE GREATEST and I nearly fell out my seat. There's so many self references and connections between the songs it's unreal! https://discord.gg/hausofdelulu 2
SharGaga 2,906
Here's my hot take. It's a great body of work and a nice concept album. Vocally she knocks it out of the park and sonically this sounds fresh. Definitely more psychedelic than RO. My problem is the album feels short which is a personal problem. I end up playing short albums on a loop and end up wanting more and tired of listening to the same songs. The lack of strong choruses won't keep some people hooked on this album in the long run. Ari's and Bey's album I thought were great first few listens but the surprise effect quickly wears off and the music doesn't sound that appealing for me anymore. The opposite happened with Taylor. It took a few listens because sonically it wasn't a departure from her sound the last few years but lyrically it's one of her most raw and unfiltered. It's a grower, not a shower. I love it now and it's still my #1. Can Gaga release now please and knock everyone out of the park?

Absolutely! It's such a mood and I love how they used similar sounds throughout the album to tie songs together or remind you of a lyric or part of a song. SO MUCH replay value I love the versatility ! In one album, getting all the different genre influences I mean...THE GREATEST - L'AMOUR DE MA VIE - THE DINER?! It could be 3 different artists, but no! Also I love how she served VOCALS! It's like the first two albums she teased us a bit with her full potential and this album she fully let go. I could honestly go on and on I'm obsessed https://discord.gg/hausofdelulu
Anderson123 35,561
I'm obsessed. Just ordered my Hit Me Hard and Soft vinyl and also ordered Ray of Light. What a great pair of albums to receive together. 1
