Grittier? I wouldn't describe the live version as grittier at all. I think the issue is less the arrangement they chose but rather the staging. I think the operating table setting fits the vibe of the song, but it's so far off to the side of the stage that half of the audience couldn't see what's going on. And aside from it moving a little bit, the platform itself isn't very dynamic for a stadium show. It's still a good performance though!
