Pennywise 36,080
Meanwhile Biden's sending a billion dollar package in arms and ammunition to Israel. Again. He couldn't even keep the pretense of "being angry" at Israel for a week. Pathetic. So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

So those weapons won't be imminently available to Israel. They could arrive after the war is over. But many media outlets like clickbait headlines. https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/14/politics/biden-administration-new-israel-arms-deal/index.html In the interview he specified that he would leverage U.S aid to Israel in a way that reduces harm to civilians in a potential Rafar operation, but he won't stop all aid to Israel in a way that endangers Israel's long-term security. It's a nuanced position.
BlackLight 382
I think what Carter said is very true and telling, actually. it’s something I don’t hear anyone on either side say enough. I think most Americans do not understand that AIPAC uses “anti-semitism” as a concept rather than a legitimate conscience movement in order to push a power agenda. I think Americans think that Jewish people still need some extraordinary protection because there is American guilt still regarding WW2. But this plays into the shallow education of the 20th century in most American public schools. israel as entity itself now is not even in correlation with most of the Jews or the ancestors of the Jews who experienced most of the terror of the Holocaust. A majority of the Jews in Israel are a sub-section that have essentially Joel-Osteened their way into mainstream theological fear tactics and weoponized their allies in America with the tool of misinformation in the media. to dumb it down: modern Israel (although anti-semitism still exists) uses this to maximize its power while maintaining a victimhood image. This allows them to not be seen as bad while doing bad things in the name of good. To be honest, they make the Christians in America look nice. And we have convinced ourselves in America that we are protecting victims when really we have been hoodwinked by our own media and money that it is simply a terrorist versus country defending itself situation. it’s so complex. There are good Jewish people. There are good Palestinians. Hamas is evil, but their evil is reactionary and attention seeking because the bad Jewish power complex (not general Jews) and their allies have insidious benefits to keeping it all a mess. Which is how that power complex continues to commit heinous acts and then say it was “defense”. Defending what? because it certainly does not defend all Jewish people. What it does is defend their power. this is not equality. the only way to win this is to continue exposing them until it’s undeniably true that they have been lying. The truth will set them free. as a Jesus follower, I stand unbiased on the sides but I do think it is time we admit that Netanyahu is corrupt, and that maybe we didn’t fully understand Palestine’s intentions and the capabilities of the evils of the Israel government. I really don't feel like he plans to do much at all, as he probably agrees with Netanyahu's plans (but cannot say that publicly yet). Hope I'm wrong though, not only for the sake of Palestinian people, but also because it's not like I *want* Trump to be president So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted. But we're constantly told that "anti-zionism =/= antisemitism" yeah right... Also teaching about the holocaust in schools, and how America and other countries failed the Jewish people resulting in 6 million deaths in just few years is not "shallow education". It's basic history. Gosh imagine if someone said this about slavery or the genocide against native americans.
PunkTheFunk 125,733
He may not have been the best president, but he was certainly the kindest and most compassionate person to ever hold the office.

Right now, his intelligence agents are investigating whether or not US arms were used to kill civilians (which, he knows they were and basically said as much at recent meetings, but without solid evidence nothing can be done about it, I guess). He personally is threatening to stop all weapons transfers to Israel because of that. Congress is pushing to send them now. All Republicans are on Israel's side and the Dems are split on the issue but that still makes a majority in favor of continuing to arm Israel unfortunately and congress has more power than Biden does at the end of the day Whimsical bitch

I understand why he takes these positions, and it's definitely a less volatile one to take which....I guess that's what I appreciate about him? But would it be too much to ask for him to be as harsh on Israel publicly as he is privately He'll shout on the phone at Netanyahu, call the guy names, acknowledge the horrors people in Gaza are facing, then get on a podium and "reaffirm America's loyalty to Israel" I like Biden but I wish that fire under his ass was just a few degrees hotter. PartySick 174,103
Anyway! OT: We been knew Carter is the most human president the US has had in decades. The man was building homes for the homeless at, like, 90 years old. Whimsical bitch
gemein3 1,474
Recently I started learning more on Carter (aside from the typical narrative), and I believe history will correct itself — he was sort of a uniquely amazing president.

On a side note, slavery and the Native American genocide have been reduced to a completely water downed version in schools. Its sick. For example, they are calling slaves - “workers” and African Immigrants - and their saying their slavery was important as it helped them learn valuable life skills and trades. -_-
