‘SOUR’ by Olivia Rodrigo becomes the most streamed female album on Spotify

with just 11 tracks... that era was insane. one of the biggest debuts of all time.

It sucks she is already showing a decline with her second album but it's a pretty decent effort. The only thing is that the ballads on GUTS aren't as good as SOUR and there's no pop rock song on GUTS as good as good4u. I definitely think she was overthinking it and had some writers block. All American Bitch, Bad Idea Right and Vampire are amazing first 3 tracks though. It's unfortunate the album kinda falls apart after that. GUTS will go down as SOUR lite. I don't see her recapturing the same interest as the first album but she still has a lot left in her. I'm here for more songs like Bad Idea Right!

i mean, commercially it truly is imo. two huge number one singles, one of the biggest streaming debuts at that time, six out of 11 tracks have more than 1 billion streams each on spotify. not sure how many artists have achieved those milestones in the past years.

Guts is a nice album but completely feels like they were trying to repeat Sour. Same people, same colors, same sound.

True but I feel that streams don’t mean a lot? Of course they’re part of an artist’s success, but only a part of it Not hating on Olivia or anyone else, but I don’t think THE average person knows who she is or one of her songs, whereas you could not escape Gaga and Poker Face or Billie and Bad Guy. Even Dua’s debut is #2 on that list and I wouldn’t consider it one of the biggest debuts at all, but maybe I’m just wrong  Love them all anyway

Or maybe that’s just France (´cause I live here) Taylor doesn’t exist a lot either here, maybe that kind of music just doesn’t work in specific places?

It's near impossible to follow a debut like that honestly.

Honestly here for her sound though if she's chosen it 'cause it's a divergence from every other artist on that list
