lastpopicon 23,291
Malta was the biggest loser tonight, they deserved better imo. But I'm not upset with Austria winning, angelic voice and he's hot The melody that you choose can rescue you

Bellatrix 34,689
Austria ended up 4th in the televote and did not receive one single 12 points. Why should we even bother paying money to vote when the jury end up deciding anyway? I feel done with it

They had 6 countries in common in their top 10 and 4 of those 6 ended up top 10 anyways. Estàvem al cel, ara estem a l'infern

StrawberryBlond 14,657
Well, even if it wasn't my ultimate fave, I'm so glad Austria won. Regardless of what you think of the song, that is true talent. I had a hunch this would win as soon as I heard it but didn't think it would truly go all the way. That's the win given to two operatic singers from German speaking countries twice in a row, how unusual (remember Conchita Wurst as well!). Even though I did love Israel's song, the controversy that would've caused could not be described. That was a tense moment. In terms of ones that that did better/worse than I imagined, Albania was a huge rise with the public that I didn't expect, along with Italy, Greece and Latvia. Finland only getting 11th was surprising, as was Armenia, Poland and Netherlands and shocked that Spain and especially Malta got so low, thought they were big audience faves. Sweden was my pick to win so to see them get 4th was a turn up for the books. I'm over the moon that my country, UK, got 88 points and got 19th, though. I was predicting maybe about 25 points and ending 24th or thereabouts. But 0 points from the public? We didn't deserve that. The vocal talent of those girls was enough to deserve points. I really don't know what we have to do to win audience respect. And how harsh was it to wait until 2nd last to hear that Switzerland had 0 points as well? At least we were in good company but the dearth between the jury and public votes there was immense.
Obman 773
So annoyed that a second rate song like Israel's won the public vote. Like someone else here said, that was such a boring ballad. The Balkan countries have submitted better songs than that in the past and ended up on the right side of the board. Glad Austria won. I genuinely love the song and am glad they won, but sad that their competition was such a mediocre song Edited Sunday at 12:09 AM by Obman Left vs right.

Another thing that makes me question the juries big time is the amount of points they gave to the UK. What mushrooms did they eat before ranking the songs? I'd love to try one of those. PolishSausage91 163
The Austrian song was terrible. Honestly, the best part of it came from the playback. Sorry, but it seems like if you want to win, just send a twink with no edge or substance. And I’m confused — the internet is full of reports about Israel killing people in Gaza, yet they still managed to take second place. Something doesn’t add up… PolishSausage91🌭

Something doesn’t add up… Israel also has a lot of support from people who sees that they are a target by Hamas, islamic terrorists, and the Israeli singer is even a survivor from Hamas attack, but that fact is not important to report for some reason. His opera vocals were insanely good and the staging was also the best by far this year. Who were you rooting for? Those girls had amazing voices, hit every note, had great chemistry, added personality to the song and sold the whole thing by showing passion for it and clearly were having a good time. I think that was what won over a lot of juries. Judging the song is more than just lyrical content. I felt the song, regardless of your opinion on it, was one of the most memorable for how unusual it was so it stuck in the jury's minds. 23 minutes ago, Juanlittlem said: I would question Germanys points more. The English translation showed that some of those lyrics didn't really make much sense, nor did it have amazing vocals or anything out of the ordinary about it so I didn't know what they saw in it either. darkgaga 4,606
I am so annoyed. Overall, we were a bit disappointed with the evening. The fact that six countries were just waiting for someone to overtake Israel doesn’t seem like the point of this festival. As I said before, it was a decent song, but not worthy of second place. Austria places 5th in its semi and wins? Explain it. Yeah, juries, I know. But I already know that this year there won’t be any debate like last year with Cha Cha Cha and Rim Tim Dagi Dim, where the televote winner was seen as the real winner. Our divas flopped hard. It’s really clear that we as Eurovision fans (and gays—because let’s be honest, that’s who I mostly talk Eurovision with) live in a bubble. I mean, Finland in 12th? Malta 17th? Spain once again a disappointing score and 24th? Sissal scoring more in the semi than Mirianna? I think a lot of us expected more from the divas with their uptempo pop songs (okay maybe not Spain, but still—it’s a diva!). Erika behind Latvia in the semi? Whut? (Still hoping all three will come to Het Grote Songfestivalfeest. I mean, Kaleen’s coming this year even after her flop last year.) Belgium sharing 13th place in the semi with Slovenia? Wtf? Estonia above Sweden in both televote and jury? Estonia’s total score in general—how? It was off-key, and I’ve seen way stronger performances. Okay, maybe the casual viewer remembered this song more than Sweden’s or Finland’s, but how did the juries not punish those vocals? Greece 6th? Italy 5th? Literally—how!? Poland getting 10 points from the Dutch televote?! 😂
hamartia 995
I want to keep watching and enjoying the show for my own sake, but knowing you-know-who is going to cloud the votes every year really ruins the night for me. I don't like having the root for a song I hated just because their country isn't flagrantly commiting war crimes I guess I liked Latvia and Ukraine the most, but I don't think I'd listen to either of the songs ever again I'm genuinely surprised Finland didn't do better in the televote. I thought she'd be top 3 at least
