our continuing commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community and standing with them as we celebrate Pride Month and throughout the year.”

the fact they ended it with this is just another slap in the face. "we care about our team members" my ass, you don't care about them when you give them ridiculous productivity targets to meet per hour than can be physically harmful, or put them in harm's way in front of violent shoplifters etc. Spineless, the true face of capitalism. No support is unconditional.

Availability is not weakness

Don't forget that this all started over misinformation regarding children's bathing suits.

Misinformation should be illegal and punishable by law.

Kinda glad in the UK people the bigots are too polite to say anything to staff about pride merch :ladyhaha:  They can just seethe online

“Since introducing this year's collection, we've experienced threats impacting our team members' sense of safety and well-being while at work. Given these volatile circumstances, we are making adjustments to our plans, including removing items

All this does is show Bigots that getting violent works.

Everyday I feel like we’re going backwards. This is so exhausting

It's is weird for me how that the US seems to go backwards in LGBT+ acceptance while "under-developed" countries like Mexico seem to be more open minded on this topics. In our current elections, we are going to decide among three left-wing candidates, all three in favor of the LGBT+ community. Meanwhile, in the United States, it seems they are going back to the reign of Trump...

Very much this part!
I live in a small town in Houston called Baytown and when I worked there I would wear rainbow accessories during pride month and the customers would always complain. This was around 2018, ans the management always had my back.
When the backlash happened last year, our pride collection (which mind you it was only the first or second year our store actually got pride) was taken off the floor after not even 2 weeks of being there.

Omg I just did a blog for an orthodontist in Baytown :huntyga:

You can thank Ronald Raegan's elimination of the Fairness Doctrine for this.

I’ve never purchased pride merch from target anyways

Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

Unpopular opinion but maybe it's fine.

Like, it's not like we should really believe they care about LGBT. It's always been about business for them

I agree on the productivity portion, but Target doesn't want employees to do anything when they see shoplifting?

if target actually cared they would hire more security at the stores that were targeted last year by those conservative idiots

sad

but once again it’s another reminder that corporations don’t care about the LGBT+ community

bc Target would never do this for their black history month, Easter, Fourth of July, Christmas, Halloween, or any other displays they do

This is really sad that bigotry in the US has become so accepted and mainstream that these attitudes are being catered to.

Honestly, I really have a lot of respect for all of you American gays who continue to live your lives and stand up for yourselves. I feel pretty safe being a gay here in Toronto Canada, but I am somewhat nervous whenever I go to the States these days. I sometimes deliberately pack less overtly gay clothing and hope to blend in. I’m really impressed with your resistance and perseverance in the face of such a bleak current political climate.

Ohhhh so it really wasn't a cause that they felt morally compelled to represent and really just a marketing scheme all along and when they started losing sales instead of gaining them from the gays like they hoped they rolled it back right right right right

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
