John Wayne weren’t a single, the cure was just a random stand alone not a part of Joanne, 911 weren’t a single except in like France and somewhere else

a single is a single girl, they got the same amount of promo as today's singles lol a music video and playlisting

there was also Joanne (Piano)

What? How? :poot: I would love to see Gaga’s future lead single get the same promo, playlisting, interviews etc. as 911 :poot:

and I said about how the era dies for the public after the album drops, the world isn’t gonna know about 911 or John Wayne if they’re played on the radios once a week in a random European country :air:

my point is that I love era’s with lots of singles and era’s that stay in the public eye for months on end, like Future Nostalgia was or how eternal sunshine is looking to do

John Wayne and Joanne (Piano) especially got absolutely zero playlisting and 911 got minimal

I'm surprised no one has mentioned "don't wanna break up again" yet. It's such a summery vibe!

I've always been wondering: what does it mean when a song is a single?

I get the concept for songs that release before the album; you get the lead single, 1-2 more singles, all of those getting promo and videos and stuff, and then the album drops. But what does it mean when songs are chosen as singles after the album drops? At that stage all the fans have already heard it!

Is it a question of promo? A single will get sent to radio, possibly get a video, be talked about in interviews, be submitted for awards, while the non-singles just don't get all that attention? But then people in this thread are saying John Wayne was not a single but it did get a video... So is it all a question of promo? And of maybe singling out one song as "more important" in a way?

yet the global pandemic didn’t stop Weeknd and Dua Lipa from turning their albums into mega successful projects

True, she carried on with performances and ofc the Super Bowl and Coachella, but I just love an era that lasts months and makes a stamp, don’t see that too often nowadays

Can understand why Chromatica didn’t get the treatment it deserved, and that she most likely decided to focus on other things with the pandemic, but it will always hurt how artists like Dua released at that time too had the spotlight on them for the year when it would’ve been amazing to have more videos and singles for an album like Chromatica :messga: it deserved to have as many singles and videos as possible :messga:

Gaga's priorities were clearly something else during that time and honestly seems more fitting what she did. We as fans of course would've loved more music videos but she focused on getting millions of dollars in donation for COVID and hospitals , she lent her IG account for Black Lives Matter, a family member died of COVID, etc. there was just so many stuff going on.

Props to Dua for carrying that album hard but she was just getting started, she really wanted to push that with what she had. If this had been Gaga's The Fame Monster she probably would've done more stuff too but Chromatica was her 8th music era.

in the traditional sense, singles get promoted through marketing efforts, album tracks do not. it used to involve radio play and physical copies of the song (paired with a b-side single), but nowadays the focus is more on streaming playlisting (which ironically is not that much different than being on the radio sans listeners can skip a track they don't like, but i digress) and merchandise. physical performances and music videos don't actually have to happen when a song is selected as a single - it just usually happens as part of the marketing efforts by the artist and label.

I can’t believe a Pop girl is bringing the true meaning of an Era back!!

This will probs be my fav her of hers and the album already is my fav.

I’m gonna make a bold guess  and say supernatural is the 4th while the 5th and 6th will be off a to be released deluxe edition.

But in case there’s no deluxe then I’m gonna guess Bye for 5th and Eternal Sunshine for 6th

okay? how's that relevant? Gaga CHOSE to halt chromatica because of a global pandemic and we know she was personally affected by it too
