27monster27 12,414
Never forget: 1. Jeffree Star is Genderphobic. 2. He (or someone on his team) paid someone accusing him of SA $45,000 in hush money. 3. Four months after his first racism apology video in May 2017 he called one of his black co-workers a "gorilla". 4. He filmed a very disturbing video of a drunk man without helping him. Rat Q 539
He’s going to do his thing but we don’t have to spend money on him or even recognize his existence. But I wouldn’t not listen to his ancient music. If I opened up my ancient laptop I could listen to it. I mean my old laptop hasn’t been on in 6 years lol. 🤦🏻 What I feel is people make a really big deal about some people and less of a big deal with artists they have soft spots for. I don’t SUPPORT him lol. Ffs I just think then that maybe we should completely demonize and condemn anyone who has displayed any of his behaviour and the fact is if we knew all the things about allllll the artists we are OKAY with past and present we’d be shocked and put off many ways. For a long time now I have used him as a vehicle for this conversation. What I am very interested in knowing are people’s “lines” that they draw when it comes to any art. What are the things that make someone like forbidden. I know people are going to say well being racist and a bigot is certainly a reason to condemn someone! Here’s some other artists who have used similar bigoted language from my understanding past events, (the en word) Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Justin Bieber, Lindsey Lohan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Quentin Tarantino yadda yadda do you eliminate them from your entertainment consumption? It seems like a very flexible line for a lot of people lol THAT is what I don’t get. It’s kind of a well if this okay then why this not okay situation for me. I don’t understand that. In conclusion: 1. Jeffree is foul in behavior and history. 2. His MySpace era music would probably make me feel nostalgic and if I were to listen to it. 3. I try to have this conversation about condemning artists or figures ALL the time as well as irl. When do we separate art from artist. What is the hard rule?
