well, in that comment i wasn't talking only about this album but the overall situation when album goes to number 1 with huge number of sales, it looks like people are loving it when in reality it's one song released 2 years before or couple of singles that are actually being played

I get where you’re coming from, and I do think in some situations that’s definitely a valid argument. I just don’t think it applies here where she is dominating *every* form of media. Physical sales, radio, streams, etc. of course she’s gonna dominate the charts when her numbers are blowing everyone out of the water in literally every aspect. That’s what the charts are for

her dominating every form of media is fine, but the way numbers are collected by billboard is still dumb and useless

yes her album is successful and people are listening to her songs, but as i said - it's unfair for older artists to group streaming numbers with real sales together

how can a song be in a top 10 only for being listened to? it's not equal to a single being bought, it's equal to how many times did someone listen to the single or a song from the album that they bought

and we had no way of collecting that data till now

 

like who knows how many times did people who bought like a prayer back in the day played spanish eyes

maybe enough to make in 1# by todays standards
