And to think that some idiots, critics or otherwise, had such brain fart to even compare that T.S. person to Bob Dylan.

Seriously.

Please.

The funny thing is that people are "so tired of hearing about Taylor Swift", yet they won't stop talking about her. If you don't like her music, or her in general, why waste your precious time hating on her?

And in regards to the band's claim, no one ever has said she is the next Michael Jackson. She has her own lane, Michael has his. The two are practically incomparable. If you want to compare success, you can't measure that either since music is consumed much differently in the digital age.

of course they'll say **** like that since she is the hottest artist at the moment. Although I believe Gaga is miles more talented than Taylor, weren't the same things said about her when she peaked?

I don't want this to come out as I'm attacking someone since hating on Taylor has become the norm, especially on this site, and god forbid if someone defends her. But isn't the slander exhausting at this point And even if publications put out these claims, we all know what's the truth. Again, comparing music, the industry, and consumerism the way it was before and how it is now is basically apples and oranges.

yes, and the big difference is that in Gaga's case it was justified lol, here is just the heat and profitability of the moment, but even at that it's not comparable at all, in Gaga's peak mainstream media was for the most part very skeptical about her, reducing her "antics" and "shock value", today mainstream media is for the most part swooning over miss taytay and you cant deny that

Off-topic but Pet Shop Boys has such a strong discography. I wish they got more credit for their impact on the synth-pop genre.

I'm not denying it at all, on the contrary. I just find it baffling how publications, critics, hell even other artists, keep comparing artists that are polar opposites. Michael, Bob, Prince, etc. - all of them have their legacies that have left a significant mark on the industry. Taylor, naturally, is very far from this.

However, I do not agree with the slander on her talent. Taylor isn't the best singer or performer, but we know damn well she can write a hell of a song. Even if she keeps singing about love and past relationships, her songs tell a story that most find incredibly captivating - including myself. What I find most annoying is how literally every single artist in the world does this, yet she's the one who's singled out. That, to me, is unfair treatment.

Whose music does though :ohwell:

He's not the most successful and influential artist in history for no reason hello

But I suppose that’s what he’s getting at. She’s arguably one of the biggest artists in the world, but does her music stack up against the greats?

Sonically, I get it, she doesn't make music that sounds innovative or anything, lyrically I mean the 10 min version of All Too Well it a damn well written song imo, at least on a similar level to many great songwriters of this generation.
