I just picture her being a little trash glam blonde New Yorker twirling gum in her finger flirting with some boy in a divey lower east side bar channeling her inner paris Hilton and saying, you can take me home but you’re buying me breakfast. And she’s still in bed wearing just her panties and stilettos when said boy returns from the bodega with breakfast sandwiches in hand. I never took that lyric too seriously and it cracks me up and I find it genius in how silly and joyous it is. Kind of like bluffin’ with my muffin’, I can’t think of a more clever way to write about pretending to be sexually into someone when you’re really not. Hello, friend. I’m also a big fan of plastic doll I find the bridge to be iconic. I’ve always interpreted it as being almost intentionally childish/mocking in sound to make a point about how silly people sound with how they treat her. It’s like how everything she would do she’d get torn down for by fans and critics and the public, and how people only focused on the superficial aspects of her. I get all that but as someone who is only a few years younger than Gaga, I can't take this song seriously, sonically nor lyrically.
